Hello....wondering if anyone can help out!

Last thing we've heard from the moscow office was that they've confirmed that they received the right of residence fee that I (sponsor) paid for.

Since then....we heard nothing and it was only a couple days ago that I sent them additional wedding and honeymoon photos.

To my surprise, they replied back the next day and said that they've emailed us and requested my spouse's passport for visa issuance but they haven't heard back from us. WE DIDNT RECEIVE SUCH EMAIL! and in the status of application....it said nothing about that.

I replied back telling them that we haven't received such email but I haven't heard back from them.....help! what should I do? Could I call them or just wait?

Also....last time they said that we need to pick up the issued visa within 60 days or something like that......they said they emailed us regarding the visa issuance on March 23, 2012....it's June 28....does that 60 day thing apply?

please help! thanks in advance!

I am not sure I will be of much help. If it was my situation I would definitely call/fax/email (whatever they use to communicate with the applicants) them in order to clear the air. You are not the only one that this happened to so I am sure the embassy has a way to resolve situations like this.

Best of luck. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on your situation will help you.

Thank you!

I emailed back but haven't heard from them.

Does anyone know if I could call him or is it frowned upon/not even an option?

Thanks!

I called the Embassy once. It was a 4:56 recorded message, and it wasn't until the final 30 seconds that they said they don't take personal calls.
Call the CIC centre (its the tel# they give you on the website) Ask them what you should do. You may also wish to try and ask you MP to look into this for you. I get my answers from the MP office.

By the way, I'm into the 19th month of waiting... fuking good times people.

Hey. How are you doing? Any changes with your case? Have you ever ordered CAIPS notes? We will order it later as it is still early for us.
I started a new thread for 2012 applicants going though Moscow, you can check in there as well if you want. It's new so doesn't have much yet. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/2012-applicants-moscow-russia-visa-office-t109876.0.html;msg1664420#msg1664420

Hi Irina,

I'm doing fine, in fact I'm doing much better these days. The Embassy finally sent in the request for the passports! The process to send them from Uzbekistan is frustrating, and costly. But it is finally done, and it only took 22 months. CIC needs to get their house in order, this process is pathetic, the support for information is pathetic, and of course the timeline is nothing short of tearing apart a relationship while they 'process' a dozen pages.
About a year ago I orderd those CAIPS notes, it took them 3 months to reply, and they only sent a letter stating they were letting me know they needed more time. At the 6 month mark they sent me another letter saying I made some mistake, and I was to fill it out and start over. Well I said fuk you, and tossed it into the shredder.
Irina I really hope your processing experience will be quicker and without the nonsense I had to deal with. Sponsoring a spouse from Uzbekistan will add considerable extra time as the 'background check document' that needs to be done in Uzbekistan will take 12 months or more. (This was told to me by my MP's immigration specialist)
CIC clearly needs to correct this. They also needs to change the sending in of the passports to the Canadian Embassy in Moscow. This procedure cost me several hundred dollars.

I'll go check out your new thread, and thanks for reading my rant.

Hey Donhollio,

That is great news, congratulations!!!!! :D :D You are finally done :D

Thank you :) I also hope I won't have to wait too long.

What courier did you use to send the passport from Uzbekistan to Moscow? And how did you get it back?
I am asking because I live in Kuwait and from what I was told I would have to fly to Moscow to get my visa.

Spacebo Irina! :)

This is just one of my many gripes I have with CIC processing. She got the request for passports and in her email was told basically this. She had to use a third party to get the passports to Moscow. The letter stated she could not come to the embassy to get them processed, and that she needed to use a service company in which they provided this link;

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/russia-russie/visas/1-6.aspx?lang=eng&view=d

Now she could not go to Kazakhstan as she couldn't return to Uzbekistan without her passport. This process she was told could be 4-6 weeks by the company, though she read a shorter time on some other site. So her mom took the passports to Kazakhstan, and had to pay an inflated price for them to basically send them by a courier company (Pony Express I suppose) to Moscow.
Once they were ready she flew back to collect them. The cost involved doing this was enough to raise my blood pressure, and I wondered why the embassy couldn't just have her go to the CDN consulate in Tashkent, and have the PRV stuck in the passport. Seems too simple, yet I'm sure they have many 'good' reasons for not making the process simple, and it would have saved me hundreds of dollars.
I'm sorry I don't know what the embassy will want you to do, Kuwait is a few light years ahead of Uzbekistan I hope in terms of worldwide shipment of packages. Please let us know what they will want you to do.,
You may want to write to the embassy and if they respond hopefully you will have your answer. I know I just wished there was one person from Uzbekistan that was on this forum being sponsored, so I would have some idea of what to expect. Just glad its finally over for me.

What do you mean by a 'group of five?' You, your wife, and three children?

Hello everyone,

My wife and I of 1.5 years (known each other for 2.5 years) will be starting the process for her PR Visa to Canada.

If anyone has any advice or tips for the Moscow office / process in general please let us know.
We understand it will be a long process and there are backlogs from the strike.

Thanks
:)

The Embassy doesn't allow you to visit to pick up your visa. They also don't answer the phone. All you can do is email them. Be sure all your documents are done properly.
