LMO processing Time - Alberta

Hi all,

Just spoke with my HR rep, she had the interview on Monday and was told to expect a reply by the end of this week.
My company is a large, well-known one, with previous experience of filing LMOs, I am really hoping it's positive!

My LMO application was finally resubmitted today. I'll update whenever I get any news.

this afternoon my employer ask me to sign the contract which is HRSDC requested for.
but then after one hour, i was being told that even my employer send everything they need they are going to reject it because we should apply the LMO before my last work permit expired.
but as far as i know, even i don't have any work permit before, i still can get a positive LMO as long as the employer can show the proof the advertising.

now i'm not sure should i ask my employer to keep processing the LMO for me :'(

Does anybody have an idea of online LMO application processing starting this April 2012 as per HRDC website ???
My company lawyer says that will speed up the process. Is it true ????

Not sure I completely understand. You were asked to sign the contract but then on the same day were told the LMO would be rejected because your work permit has expired. But you've never had a work permit?

As far as getting a positive LMO because the employer advertised, there is no guarantee of that.

Maybe someone else can help you because I don't really understand.

So it sounds like your employer should have applied for the LMO several months BEFORE your work permit expired.

Sorry, I don't have any helpful advice but maybe someone else can help.

Really weird. Actually, LMO processing and visa processing are in different part. LMO is for business

Hi Lucas,

My employer sent in my application Dec. 22nd 2011 and we got the file number on February 15th.
I live in Vancouver.
My first year permit expired January 15th so I have been at home since around February 9th. Long wait!
I hope it's good news, I'll let you guys know

The only thing I heard that worries me is that usually you would know pretty much once the interview is done whether you got it or not? My employer didn't mention anything like that, just that they would mail the verdict.

When my employer had the interview they were told they would have an answer within a few days. We found out the following day that it was denied. I don't know if they got a call or an email. It was because of a mistake on the employer's part. I guess SC knew right way that they would deny it so let them know right away. Just guessing, but maybe it is good you still don't have a reply. Hopefully you'll know tomorrow.

(They advertised again and resubmitted the application on Monday.)

I am overjoyed to report that I have been granted a two-year positive LMO, just got the news from my HR rep.
The long wait is finally over!
Do not lose hope everyone, though it is a long process when you get it it's MORE than worth it!
