When I bring in POF should I bring the full required amount in DD/TC form, or If I take a part of it in DD and rest in cash, will it be a prob at the POE offices of immigration/customs, kindly advice..

Thanks a lot
Replied to your PM as well...
Be free to carry your [required] POF in any format -- no issues there.

Nope. You could use a step-up transformer, but the performance is never the same. Don't bring any appliances , they are not expensive here.
Besides, your AV eqpt won't work as well... the NTSC-PAL format issue would play a spoil-sport !

The TV also needs to be equipped with an ATSC tuner for off air reception (unless you are buying a conversion box).

NTSC = Never Twice the Same Colour

PAL images are better, but with HD who cares :)

I don't agree. Appliances you find at home doesn't mean you can also find in Canada (especially in smaller cities).

Dear Friends,

To all the aspiring members and to all those who have already landed, kindly go through the site below.

I have always followed this site and it is quite informative too, something similar to this one . Also look and interact with a guy called Nabil, he is quite informative and helpful.

Best Regards and keep up your motivation.
This domain has changed to http://www.immigrationexperience.ca/ Unfortunately I lost the domain and I had to buy a new one.

Online shopping ?? :D
I agree. Sometimes online shopping (especially those in your home country) can be much cheaper than Canadian retailers. Yesterday I saw a Halloween toy and the retail price in Canada is $11.99, while price in US is just $6.99. So much cheaper!

I haven't lived in Toronto for a long while. But in Vancouver, I can't find similar size slow simmer/stew cooker, so I brought one with transformer from my previous country of residence. The overall performance is the same.

Ps.: Anything of 1080i or 1080p also doesn't work here, if brought from PAL region.

Will landing in Toronto between the months of November to February be difficult for people from India due to winter? Anyone can share the experience and advice if it okay to land or need to wait till a favorable climate sets in Toronto?

Check the weather history here http://www.theweathernetwork.com/statistics/CL6158350/caon0696/

With the right clothing you should have no problem.

Here is a list of the places you may not want to stay in your first months in Canada:
