I'm not sure but I think I've seen it in this furem before that Vancouver office is pretty fast in inviting for test but it takes them 1 to 2 months to issue oath letter.
I think you don't need to be worried.
Thank you Gazzz, I am travelling in April and I thought maybe Ill have the citizenship by that time so I wont need to apply for a Visa but sounds like I should go through the Visa process.

Hi Guys...

Here is my timeline:

Application received by CIC - March 6, 2014
Started Processing - April 23, 2014
Transferred to Local office (Mississauga) - August 2014
Test date - January 30, 2015 (letter dated January 6, 2015)
Oath date - February 6, 2015

When I wrote my test in Mississauga, there were people who had applied in August 2014 who wrote the test with me. After the test, almost all of the people who wrote the test got an oath letter for the same ceremony. It was quite dramatic as to how the CIC staff revealed this news to us. The test was super easy and the CIC staff are quite nice.

For the interview, I was asked about my travel (I have quite a bit of travel due to work and family), about my general background, about my family, about all the places I have lived in my life. Since I have a lot of travel, the interviewer had to spend some time to match all the stamps to all the absences as per my application form. I had sent in some extra paperwork due to the absences and tried to make it as clear as possible in my application.

Good luck people!
Congrats. You finally finished this marathon!

I have the test this Monday. Any advise for me? Did they ask lots of date or questions were more conceptual?

thanks,

Thank you! Frankly speaking, it was not much of a marathon. But the application process has sped up quite a bit! Mine took exactly 11 months.

Good luck for your test! The questions will be all based on your application. You should be able to explain all your absences. The interviewer may ask you about your background, where have you lived, about your family, about your job, what kinda company you work for, if you travel for work etc. Basically all questions you should be able to answer. All the stamps on your passport have to be justified and make sure you take all your old passports as well. The interview is pretty straight forward. Nothing too crazy!

The test is just amazingly easy. Read the book properly and practice the Richmond Library online practice test.

Once again... all the best.

Another update: I've been sent to Scarborough! Was hoping for Missisauga as they seem to do lots of same-day oath ceremonies. We'll see how I do in Scarberia.

Hello July applicants!

I finally have received the test invitation that will happen on Feb 10th. I am worried about that because I have not finished reading anything yet and I have not done any exam practice for a review. I am so worried that I won't do well. Anyone who is in this situation that prepare their test within 5-7 days. :'(

Will the judge ask anything about local government? Who's premier? etc? or does the judge will go over all the documents that I submitted to CIC only?

Thank you.

First of, you wont see a judge, you will be interviewed by an officer after you take a 20-multiple choice test. You have to answer at least 15 to pass. How much time you need to study that depends on you and how good your english is and how good you are with studying and test taking. Some needed couple days to study and some probably a year.

Thank you, CanV. How long does the test take? How long does the interview take? When will applicants see the judge or does that apply for applicants who failed the test first time only? Is there anybody who will tell me if I pass or fail the test? Will that person tell me when the ceremony is? Sorry for asking you a lot of questions, but I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Thank you, GAZZZ. That would be hard in my situation because my DH is working away and I have to take care of my young child plus I have nobody who can take care of my young child. Just wondering if I could bring a toddler to the test? My child is not in a day care yet, so it would be hard to handle this. Do you know anybody who is in my situation? Thank you.

Why don't you ask your local community centre if they could help you. You can also go to The closest YMCA and explain for them your citation. I'm sure there is a way to work it out. Hopefully You can put your child for a couple of days there.

there is a phone number in your invitation letter. Call them and ask them if there is any way to bring your child to the test centre.

Good luck
