Invited but missed PGP 2022 deadline...

Hello all, it was with horrendous feeling that I realized I was invited for 2022 PGP application yesterday... Only to learn that the deadline for app submission was December 24th.

Reason was that I was simply looking at the wrong email inbox...

Anyway, is there any chance that I can submit an application and ask for it to be processed out of compassionate reasons? Whoever has gone through this knows that it takes a decade easily to get a chance to reunite with parents via immigration sponsorship. Heartbroken and hoping for a possible solution.

Thanks.

The applications are now online and I assume they've already closed the portal since the last date for submissions has passed. However I guess you can look to see if it's still open and try submitting with an LOE. Hard for any of us to say what will happen.

Thanks Scylla. The portal is still open for submissions, but expectation is that it'll be returned to us, at least that's what all official IRCC web pages say.

We'd surely hope to get to a human somehow and ask for help.

IMO you are wasting your time calling the IRCC help desk (which is the only way to reach a human). They are only call centre agents. They don't have decision rights and can't make any decisions or offer you any guarantees with regards to your application.

If the portal is still open, then apply and include an LOE to request that your late file be considered. That's really the only path available to you at this point.

Much appreciate your response! One question though. When the application was open (i.e. before December 24th) what did the family category say? Did it have "Parent/Grandparents" as an option, or was PGP all under "Other Relatives"?

In my opinion waiting to talk to a human is.... . However, I recommend you submit the application ASAP with a detailed but brief letter of explanation. Details should include specifics on why you're in this situation if possible with dates.

Good luck!

Doesn’t bode well that you’ve missed a request in the past by missing a request via email

But it is , what it is

I'm not sure. I would assume it would have to be under parent/grandparent or PGP or something similar.

Other Relatives is a completely different category - so I don't think that would be the right option.

But wait for others to respond.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share the petition to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to improve the Family Sponsorship (PGP) program: https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-4385. I already received the support from the Member of Parliament, and now the petition needs to collect 500 signatures to be presented at the House of Commons.

I would be very grateful if you could sign it and share with your friends and on socials.

What was the outcome of this. Did they accept your application?
OP was asking about how to request a refund in March so probably safe to assume the application wasn't accepted.

Thanks scylla for sharing your story. I am running into a similar situation and wondering in this case if you missed the submission deadline do you have to re-submit ITS(interest to sponsor) again or your previous ITS will be returned to the lottery pool and waiting for the next draft?

I'm not the person this happened to.

Sorry just realized that. But I am wondering did any of you know what will happen in this case if the applicants missed the deadline after receiving the invitation? Do they need to re-submit another ITS?

I don't know for sure. But my guess is that you are no longer in the pool and will have to submit a new entry once IRCC opens the program in the future.
