I had to fax over several times before it went through for some reason.

I also added a little note in my fax, politely asking them to give me a call to confirm they have received my fax.

My Son's Common-law spouse just received a letter advising that Processing of her application has been completed and CIC Scarborough will contact her concerning her permanent residence status.

Does this mean she can now get OHIP?

Today the call centre agent that my notes say that background and security checks are being done now. However, I am not approved for first stage as yet. Is background check not a 2 stage thing? What does it mean for them to be doing it now?

What does it mean for them to be doing it now?

They may have ordered them at the same time they examined your file. If they are doing them then it would suggest they don't expect any issues with AIP - otherwise, they'd defer them until they were satisfied about sponsor eligibility and your eligibility to be treated as a spouse/partner-in-Canada class applicant.

Thank you very much. The agent told me that there was nothing else in the notes to tell me anything else. Only that they ordered background and security checks. Amikety said they can order background check to verify if you can get an OWP
