hi my dear supporters, I checked PR document checklist today after Jurjen's advice for putting N/A in not applicable fields.
However, I hit other two small questions, if you know, please help me out.
1. My sponsor received EI (Employment insurance) for a couple of months during the last year.
Is EI an kind of social assistance?
Do I need to attach EI as government payments under PROOF OF INCOME FOR SPONSOR section?

2. Another small question is, document checklist asked to attach pictures/photos separately. Here is what it said:
"Photographs of the marriage or common-law relationship ceremony, if applicable (photocopies are acceptable;p originals will not be returned)"
In my application, I don't print photographs like the ones we put into photo frame. I found it's hard to manage to me.
My way is, I put them all under my separate papers (MS Word file) to explain for particular questions, put explanation or notes under each picture and print them by my color printer. Is it okay? I read somewhere in this thread that it was okay but I'm not pretty sure. I found myself very comfortable to print and attach all pictures into a file than bringing them to Walmart, shopper drug mart or loblaw to do for me.
My sponsor said that EI isn't social assistance. Now, I only need some help for the question on pictures, question 2 above.

I don't know, as much as I go through my papers again and again, as many questions I found :'( :'( :'( :'(. Is that good or bad?
Like today, when I read http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM0008ENU_2D.pdf again (I've read this form and fixed it more than 10 times so far), and this time, I still have one more question on education ???.
In this section "EDUCATION/OCCUPATION DETAIL," number 1 asked for my highest education. At number 2, it asked "Number of years of education in total." Please tell me which years I should put into 2, total years I finished my highest education or total years I finished all my life education?
If I think that question 2 relates to question 1, I'd put years that I finished my highest education only.
If I don't think about any relations, I'd put years of education for my whole life. :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
Help help help my saversssssssssssssss!

Hi there.

No, EI is not social assistance.
Yes, it is okay to print the pictures on regular printer paper with descriptions, that's what I did.
And it is meaning your education through life in total. Number 1 was a different question, there you would put whatever your highest level of education was but number 2 is referring to just how many years of education you have all together.

I have never really been able to confirm what AVRES SECURITY means but the closest me and another member got was for the abbreviation: Automated Voice Recorded Service. Everyone has this on their FOSS even I did so everything is fine.

And for the background checks, does it actually say CIS passed or CSIS passed? Wanting to check. If it does in fact say CSIS then yes that means you passed that check.

Congrats at Lemony and Amanda!!

BenderS, Coldgirl and Charlamag could check after the weekend if they've been accepted yet...

Sorry if I missed out some questions or double-answered them, but here we go:

1. I just called CIC couple days ago, they said i should hear something by March next year (i got my aip on july 4). so

will it actually be taking that long?????
It's the maximum. It differs per case. Some people get it instantly, some get it within days/weeks, others wait months. Unless there's information lacking in your file, it should take too long.

abc3896 said:
2. about my medical tests, my story is that i was originally planning send in my case outland which is beijing and i did my medical according to that.

but eventually i send inland (because my visa was about to be expired). so i guess thats why there was no"medical results have been received" on

Ecas. so my question is where my medical is now?? can i do anything about it??
It's normal to not see "medical results have been received" if you only got first stage approved. If you want to know about your medicals, call CIC and after answering some security questions, they could share some details. Another option would be to order FOSS notes.

Can someone pls confirm for me: If I extend my stay in Canada as a visitor only (currently on work permit that expires May 25.12) then a few months later get AIP - can I then apply for an OWP - Is that how it works? Or do I have to stay as a visitor till I get my PR card?
What I would do: send the OWP application to Vegreville PR applications. Put in a cover letter that you had no idea that you had the option to apply for the OWP, until you read about it somewhere online and that you would like to apply without extra delays. Write very big on the envelope "PLEASE ADD TO FILE ASAP". On top of the OWP application form, write: "Please do not process before first stage approval."
That would allow you to keep working under 'implied status', until CIC made a decision on your work permit.

No, like it says: it's an insurance. (S)he paid for it while she was working, so you get it back when losing your job (under certain circumstances). EI is NOT considered as social assistance, including by CIC.

Euh.... Dunno... It's income in a way, so I would say yes.

Me too, I also put them in a Word file with some explanations. Then went to a cheap print shop (we don't have a colour printer), got some ugly result, but sent it any way (it's not a photographer's portfolio, it's just proof of that the wedding happened). So far so good: we're accepted for 1st and 2nd stage, so it must be okay.

Just wondering if anyone on this thread knows - are you entitled to maternity leave benefits after you get AIP?

You are right. I just google Automated Voice Recorded Service AVRES, and a link came a long. I click on it and these lines were in it: "By calling the CIC Call Centre in Canada - You can choose to follow the instructions to listen to their Automated Voice Request Service (AVRES) options or speak to a Call Centre representative directly (press 0 at any time)."

So it's confirm AVRES means Automated Voice Recorded Service, but any idea what that is? Sorry to keep on onging on this subject. The wait after AIP is being so long, sometimes it really gets me.

Thanks again Love_Young.
