How many immigration photos required in total?

Hi
here's one to test how quickly this forum can come up with the goods! :)
I'm getting a medical first thing in the morning, so need to get photos done in the next couple of hours. Thought I was all set, but have made myself very confused trying to find out how many I need in total.
I know 5 are needed for the medical (though the doctor told me 2-4!) and the immigration form calls for 8. Is that in addition to the 5? (I know I could always go back to the photographer if I need more, but would prefer not to if I can avoid it.)
For background, I am British, living in Germany, and my Canadian wife and I are applying from outside Canada.
Thanks in advance!

For my husband's immigration photos, he used 5 for the medical, and the immigration form said to provide 9. So you're region forms asked for 8 then additional 5 for the medical. Hope this helps.

Hi!

That's right. Medical photos are always additional to the photos asked in your Regional Specific Guide. They might request them to be a different size too, please confirm with your doctor.

the photos for the medical exam are IN ADDITION to those requested in your region specific guide.

you may also want to have a few extras taken, in case they are requested. the amount of photos requested in your region specific guide *should* cover the requirements for your Visa (when it is issued), but we decided to take more, just to avoid having to go back and do it again, if the visa office should lose a few pictures.

good tip bonbon9, thanks. Have actually left it too late to call the doctor now, but since they couldn't even tell me how many were needed, I think I'll play it safe and get the Canadian size (and as minna says, a couple of extra can't hurt, and the cost is a drop in the ocean compared with all the other expenses...)

Cheers

When my husband recieved his PPR from Buffalo, he was required to send an additional 3 photos with his passport for the Visa. Two of them were returned with the Visa and his PP.

thanks for your comments. I've now got the photos, 16 of them, which ought to see me through the process.
Good to know there are so many other people struggling through the same process. I'm sure my wife and I will be back on here with some more questions in the next few months.
Good luck everyone!
