I wish they would just give us a date, I am hoping that it will happen sometime in January, but who knows, they have taken so long doing everything with our application, that I don't even want to make any predictions.

I just want this to be over with and not be in limbo anymore.
For sure theyll be closed over the holidays... so itll be in jan or feb id say. The person who signed the email is the generic email responder. Not the visa officer

Yes, there was no signature.
I'll have to wait until January now to receive the notes too.

It's hard to say how long we will be in queue for and then probably still will have to wait another month after they give us a date.

I have not seen the initials DD before. Last officer who worked on our file was a Desiree Pachkowski.

When is 3 Kings day in January?

I hope you hear something before they take their break in December!

They don't stop working or close down over the holidays... they observe Canadian statutory holidays which are Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Years Day but that is all. So there will be three days they are closed but they do not take an extended break whatsoever. They are actually in crunch mode this time of year because they are trying to approve 80% of 2016 applications by the end of 2017.

Ok thanks, I sort of thought it might be slow anyways even if they only get stat holidays off but I'm sure that some people will tack on vacation days as they do in Canada.

We received the following email from the VO today:

Hey Majesty- fellow Mexico VO person over here :). I'm wondering why you are in queue for an interview, though it does sound like countries processed through Mexico are more likely to get one that. European or Scandinavian countries. But still, it's curious. Have you two spent much time apart as a couple? Are you applying spousal or common-law?
Suerte to you both.
:)

Madam, Sir

Please consider that your application is in queue for interview. An exact schedule is not yet available.

No further action is required by you at this time.

We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

Not sure what else to do at this point other than to order GCMS notes and wait.

Although it would have been nice not to have an interview, it seems that the end to this whatever the result, will be coming to an end soon.

No sure why my previous message showed up that way- but it was directed at Majesty- in case it's not showing up.

Hello,

it is not a surprise to me that they are wanting to interview my partner. We are common-law and have some red flags. As I have not ordered the GCMS notes since they decided to put us in queue for an interview, I can only speculate as to the exact reasons why they want to do the interview (The notes may not indicate the reason(s) either).

Our red flags include me being quite a bit older than my partner. We became common-law while my partner was in Canada on a working holiday visa in 2012-2013. He tried to stay in Canada on his own accord by trying to secure an LMO with his last job in Canada (got negative response).

We looked at family sponsorship but at that time, 18 months was the average processing time for Chile, so we concentrated on other streams economic ones like EE as we thought would be faster.
Anyways, fast forward to end of 2015, we decided to apply for spousal sponsorship as his EE application didn't seem to be happening.

We finally got everything together at end of 2016 and applied in Jan 2017. As you can see, we have a history more complicated than most people. During all this time, We have visited each other usually every 4-8 months in the last few years. So yes we have spent a lot of time apart which might raise questions with immigration.

It's been a long road, but hopefully it will be over with soon, with a good outcome we hope.

Hey Majesty
Yes, I have been following your posts on-and-off too, and you have definitely had quite the ride. I can definitely relate to the "complicated" scenario... ours is not the most straightforward either, and we are also common-law! So I will be eager to hear how you go over the next months, and wishing you an end to the limbo very very soon. You both deserve it. Keep us updated :)

Actually you can do something, you can contact your visa office by email on occasion and ask for an update and if they require anything else :) i have done that every 3 months or so throughout the process.
