Hi guys,

I'm going to keep it short, as i'm sure lots people ask similar questions.

I'm a british citizen, looking to immigrate to Canada (Vancouver)

Graduated this year - Computer Science. 4 year degree with 1 year work experience.

Work Experience - Telecoms test and measurement software house
September 2009 - September 2010 - Full Time - Placement Student Engineer
September 2010 - July 2011 - Sponsorship awarded during final year and on a casual contract to working during vacations, etc.
July 2011 to present - Full Time Employment

Age : 23
English - Proficient.

Completed 3 years of college education on completion of high school, that is 3 years + 12 years of education (primary to high school) = totaling 15 years.

I'm looking to move next year, just needed some advice on my current situation. How likely am I to make it, or not. If not is there anything I can do to improve my situation.

Thanks Arjun

As people have said above, IT is not on the in-demand list federally so you can't apply under Federal Skilled Worker Category 1.

However, it is in demand in almost every province.

So you can either:

1) Get a job offer, get the employers to make sure they have had it advertised for at least 2 weeks in the past 3 months with no suitable Canadian found for the job, then get the employer to get an LMO (Labour Market Opinion) and from their apply for a temporary work permit, then apply as Federal Skilled Worker Category 2 whilst working in Canada.

2) Get a job offer with AEO (Arranged Employment Offer) - this is where the government approve the AEO and it's similar in that they have to be convinced no Canadian could be found suitable for the job, but the employer waits for your residency application to be approved and then you start after that (so probably have to wait for a year or so before you can begin working in Canada). This is also Federal Skilled Worker Category 2.

3) Get a job offer, and apply for provincial nomination (thus avoiding the need for an LMO). Might be quicker if you get the right province and also the employer is willing to wait for the nomination to be finalised.

4) Wait for IT to make it onto the federal in-demand list, but that could be years.

Best of luck,
Wayne.

Hi Anum,

I'm having difficulty finding this. Please could you point me to some more information?

Also guys, thank you very much for the replies. Seems its going to be exceptionally hard for me to make it, due to not having enough experience, I don't think a company is going to employ me. Unless you guys think differently, in which case please do advise.

Anum, i'm going to start looking at working for a year, and hopefully find a job :)

Appreciate your help

Thanks Arjun

Cappuccino - I'm looking at provincial nomination and I can't find anything that says that LMO is not required for British Columbia?

Thanks Arjun

Hi guys,

after some research I've found that IEC visa is not applicable to me, i've been a UK resident for over 10 years, but I got my British Passport around 6 months ago, which makes me ineligible for the IEC visa.

I'm a little confused with AEO and LMO

I'm planning to go to canada in september to try and find work and speak to recruitment agencies, aswell as see my girl friend :). I am wondering if i'm successful at arranging employment, whats this whole palava about LMO? and is their anything I can do to avoid it. I'm happy to sign up staying in one province (British Columbia) for a specified period if it makes getting PR easier?

Please could some one advise

Thanks in advance, I do appreciated the help and advice
