SenoritaBella,

Can you please help me analyze my IELTS score and what CLB category do I belong.
I am NOC 2171. I worked here in Canada for 2 years now.
Got my AOR on Sept.12/12.
My overall score is 5.5.
Listening= 5.5
Writing= 5.5
Reading= 5.0
Speaking= 5.5

In your opinion, is this score enough for their requirement?
Thank you. Your help is much appreciated.
No, you require CLB 7 as 2171 is NOC level A, 6 in each category.

hi SenoritaBella/ Andy,

I am software engineer/ tester and applying under the experience class. My IELTS provisional score is as below.

L --> 5.5
R --> 6.0
W --> 6.5
S --> 6.5

Am I eligible to apply for the PR?
Software tester NOC B. so you must meet CLB 5 so you are fine.

According to this CIC website:
If you gained your skilled work experience in Canada in a NOC 0 or A job, you must meet the minimum level of CLB 7 in either English or French for all four language abilities.
All of your IELTS scores must be more than 6 (which is CLB 7). Unfortunately your writing score is only 5.5. I suggest that you retake the exam as soon as possible and make sure all score are above 6.

Hello
I am trying to understand how many points, following a new score system, I have got from my IELTS exam results(converting it to CLB system). My results are:
Listening 7.5
Reading 6.5
Writing 6.0
Speaking 6.5
I don’t understand if I’ve got 16 points on language section(in case I count all my results by CLB 7) or I’ve got more(in case I count my results by combination of CLB 7, CLB 8 and CLB 9)
In order to apply to FSW program I need at least 18 points on language section.
Thanks in advance

This is totally ridiculous. Everything is clearly laid on CIC website, I do not understand why I see a lot of threads with this subject asking if they qualify or not or what is the equivalent..

Again ............ it is SIMPLE and this is all available through this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/language-testing.asp we just need to at least do a little reading ;)

If you gained your skilled work experience in Canada in a NOC 0 or A job, you must meet the minimum level of CLB 7 in either English or French for all four language abilities.

- It means. ALL FOUR LANGUAGE ABILITIES (not one or two or three but all four (4)) should have an equivalent of CLB 7 or IELTS Score of 6.0 (Thus, CLB 7 or IELTS 6.0 in READING, CLB 7 or IELTS 6.0 in WRITING, CLB 7 or IELTS 6.0 in LISTENING and CLB 7 or IELTS 6.0 in SPEAKING). So if one of your scores in Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking is BELOW 6.0 in IELTS then you do not qualify and I suggest to study and retake.

If you gained your skilled work experience in Canada in a NOC B job, you must meet the minimum level of CLB 5 in either English or French for all four language abilities.

- Same here. It means. ALL FOUR LANGUAGE ABILITIES (not one or two or three but all four (4)) should have an equivalent of CLB 5 (Thus, CLB 5 or IELTS 4.0 in READING, CLB 5 or IELTS 5.0 in WRITING, CLB 5 or IELTS 5.0 in LISTENING and CLB 5 or IELTS 5.0 in SPEAKING). Again, if your IELTS score is below 4.0 in Reading and 5.0 in the rest of the abilities then you need to retake.

This site is very clear on this --> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/language-testing.asp
