Hey Sunshine...I have a suggestion. Could you add some more info to the spreadsheet? I think it would be helpful to add e-cas status (application received, in process, and decision made)...in that way we can track to see how long it takes between each e-cas change.

Oh, and the interview for my wife has been waived (99% sure of it!)...please update this info to the spreadsheet...thanks!

Hope your application gets through quickly and without delays!!!

That was a good idea, I added new columns for ecas status :) Is it safe to say that the date for application received is the date CIC received the application? At least that's what ours says.

If anyone would like their line updated with the ecas info, let me know!

Yeah, the date for application received is the date when CIC-M received the package.

Could you update the spreadsheet to show 'in process' started on August 30th.

Thanks!

Here is what ocanadiana said in another thread, FS:

The stamped CoPR is proof of his status so if he could make it to the Canadian border he would be allowed in based on the CoPR. HOWEVER, the CoPR is not a form of travel that the Canadian government authorizes and trains commercial carriers to use/verify to confirm an individuals's admissibility. And, commercial carriers take the responsibility to ensure you have a valid travel document (e.g. visa-exempt passport, visa foil in your passport, PR Card, Canadian Passport) very seriously because if they allow someone who doesn't have a valid document to arrive on Canadian soil and the person isn't allowed in the airline (or carrier) would face a very stiff penalty.

Therefore, the Canadian government allows you to get a travel document to prove your eligibility to travel to the carrier to be able to travel back to Canada.
Yes on this note I spoke to someone who was returning to Canada from the U.S. on a "non-Canadian" airline and ran into difficulties. It was too late to change as they already accepted a flight to Buffalo (a lot closer to Canada) but the agent at the Air Canada counter told them they would have let them board the plane. I guess Air Canada agents know what they're looking for.

When we fly to do the landing, my wife will have her visa, so no problem. When we fly out for good, my wife will have her PR card, so again, no problem. We would never try flying without a valid visa, the PR card, or worst case, the returning residents visa.

Fireluck.. obviously you stopped working because you had a kid. And I assume you're on maternal benefits which are issued through EI? I'm not trying to alarm you, but I'm just curious.. I know you can't be on EI and sponsor, but maternal benefits and EI are one in the same are they not? Personally I think it would be outrageous if you, a newly wed new mother, would be denied because of that especially since you need your husband to support you at this time.

actually StephC you can be on EI and sponsor.......EI is not considered a social assistance/welfare form of payment.......so maternity benefits would not hold this up......if one did not enclose an Option C it might take longer but that is just a guess........

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Canada-Government-Information-351/2010/9/Sponsorship-under-spouse-category.htm
Sponsors or applicants receiving maternity benefits under Canada's Employment Insurance (EI) continue to meet their financial obligations under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations.
you can read the rest of it at the above link.

If you through that (it is long) but everything is included in the manual.

Hi everyone, I have a question for all of you. I didn't pay the landing fee with the application but I wanted to pay it now. It seems on the website that I can't pay in online now that the file is in Seoul - is this right? I wanted to pay it now because I was hoping that they would see that it was paid when they opened the file to process it and I would avoid the extra two months. But now I'm scared that it might get lost if I do the bank draft thing and it might be easier to pay it when they ask for it. Any thoughts?
