I think so as well. Cairo Visa office sends a request for other agencies (CSIS, etc) who do the background check. So I'm assuming that is when the agencies estimate they will respond to the request.

Actually, it's not that they will finish all cases by December 2017. It's that they will finish 80% of cases. I think the Cairo visa office might have already been good at finishing that many cases within 12 months. So who knows if that really helps us. But yes. Everyday we hope that today...

If your wife is the one sponsoring you, it takes a bit longer usually. I am sponsoring my husband and so far we have been waiting almost 15 months. My brother sponsored his wife in 6 months.
