An Experience with e-CAS (From "Oath" to "Applying for Passport")

I agree. The purpose of my post was to inform those who want to apply urgently, or (as in my case), who want to get all paperwork done before getting back to work. Although the citizenship certificate is required, it is just a letter-sized paper with no photo or other security features (in our...

An Experience with e-CAS (From "Oath" to "Applying for Passport")

My wife recently got her citizenship. As expected, the citizenship ceremony officer stated that my wife can apply for passport after two business days (48 hours). I noticed that e-CAS is now getting updated in real-time (in case of my wife, the status changed to "Decision Made" right after she...

Ottawa to Kingston... Where to take oath Ceremony?

The Ottawa office is still responsible for Kingston. I took mine at the Ottawa office. Unless there is a special ceremony date such as the birth of Sir John A. Macdonald (he lived in Kingston), the oath ceremony will be at Ottawa.

    June 19, 2014

I have a friend who applied around mid June. He phoned CIC call centre last week and was told that CIC is processing applications received up to June 19. He just got his AOR via email, which is surprising since he cannot confirm it through eCAS.

    lawsuits against C24

@Eminem Well, the federal election system in Canada does not provide fair representation. The tories had only about 40% of the 2011 votes and yet got majority in HoC. Back to the main issue. Again, many of us are not against the grounds of revocation. However, you should not give such power...

    lawsuits against C24

Having other countries applying certain measures does not mean that these measures are legal or constituational for Canada. The key issue with the new law is the revocation process. It is not acceptable (and I strongly believe it is illegal) to revocate citizenship without a fair trial. Giving...

Harper government considers tightening ‘citizenship by birth’ rules

Re: Harper government considers tightening ‘citizenship by birth' rules According to the referred document, babies to citizens and PRs will still be granted citizenship at birth.

Citizenship for Children of Naturalized Canadians

Children do not have to meet the residency requirement for citizenship. The only thing for them is to maintain the 2/5 years PR residency obligation.

Air Canada refuses re-entry into Canada (Foriegn Passport + Citizenship Certif)

Not automatically. You have to apply for an authorization within a year to retain/renounce the Egyptian citizenship. However, the loss of the Egyptian citizenship is not usually enforced for who failed to apply for the authorization. Quoted From Wikipedia:

Air Canada refuses re-entry into Canada (Foriegn Passport + Citizenship Certif)

It is a common practice with Canadians-Egyptians to use the Canadian passport to travel to Egypt and enter with the National ID or the birth certificate. I think the family thought that it can also work the other way around.

    Application returned - incomplete

I had a similar situation (except I did not get the whole application back). You have to photocopy the passport renewal page and attach a letter clarifying both your passport extension and the fact that you provided all the passports that covers the relevant 4 year period.

Date of original entry left blank on confirmation of permanent residence

@Windsor_PhD, not having the original date of entry in the CoPR does not mean that it is not recorded in the immigration system. I came to Canada as student, I do not have the original date of entry in my CoPR, and I did NOT get an RQ for the citizenship.

    Citizenship Card renewal issue

Two words: "Be honest" On a side note: CIC stopped issuing wallet-sized citizenship cards since 2012. You do not have to re-apply if you still have your old citizenship card and certificate. If you re-apply, you will only get a letter-sized certificate with no photo.

    Question about passport

48 hours from the time of the oath (as mentioned to my friend by a CIC officer at the time of his oath). Express passport service will require additional CAD 110 and 24 hours (you have to show proof of travel to obtain the service).

    Post Test Interview Situation...

For Ottawa CIC, a timeline of 2 to 6 months between the test and the oath is the norm. Mine was just less than two months while my friend waited for 4.5 months. As the officer said, it depends on the availability of a CJ to approve the applications. We do not have a permanent CJ since last Jan.

Bill C-24 Second Reading on February 27th:

Now it is done. We will all be under the risk of having citizenship revoked without fair trial. Harper now has a potent tool to silence his dual-citizen oppositions. With the vagueness in the new law we will not be surprised if Harper's government accuses people of being disloyal to Canada...

Oath Timeline - test at Ottawa office

They google your name, and look into your linkedin, facebook, and twitter. They look for anything that contradicts with what they have in the file in order to put the application onto the long non-routine path. http://decisions.fct-cf.gc.ca/fc-cf/decisions/en/item/70932/index.do I believe they...

Oath Timeline - test at Ottawa office

I suggest that you order your case notes through ATIP. Although officers are known to have mistakes from time to time, the cause of having RQ can be from the same supporting documents you sent to avoid RQ. There is a history of officers verifying documents through phone calls and the Internet...

Current Passport sent for renewal...Test fast approaching...Options?

I do not go through this myself. However, I know someone who sent his old passport to get new one without having a notorized copy. His interviewing officer told him that he should have it photocopied before.
