Thats what i thought :) But i heard from a friend too that the officers dont really ask for the TD and so i decided to try it.

I landed as a PR by road on 1st July and then flew back into Toronto using my COPR on 18th July. The CBSA officer asked for my PR card and I told him I am waiting for it. He accepted by COPR.

Any other options that i can look at?

just an update.. I used my work permit to board the flight from US and used the COPR when landing in Toronto. No issues encountered.

You will have to call CIC customer care and ask them this question.. I guess when you applied for your renewal, they took your original passport.. so leaving country and coming back isnt an option.. Once you get the passport back.. you will have to re-apply for the work permit and TRV...

Yes, you can apply from within Canada. I am on work permit and i have extended the TRVs of my wife and I 3 times since 2012. I did it online.. Send them a copy of your work permit..

Its best to get a letter with the contents that CIC expects i.e hours of work a week, annual salary, designation etc.. If you cannot provide a letter, explain why you cannot do it. Show salary slips and T4 forms and snapshots from your time tracking tool. Include a business card if you have one.

Yes. You worker visa that is valid till Oct will serve the purpose. BOWP is only a permit that allows you to work in Canada. You cannot use it to get into the country. The worker visa that is on your passport is what you'll use.
