Maybe. More goes into it such as travel history, funds to support visit, ties to home country and reasons to travel. If wife and son not travelling then you need funds to support your visit and allow them living expenses. Why do you need to come to Canada alone?

So get an invitation letter from the conference and if a speaker, then highlight that. You have no travel history. All you can do is apply and wait for a response.

The person applying for me is based in canada while I am base in Cameroon
So it is processed from Cameron. The person applying for you doesn’t matter. Processing is about 200 days or more so chances of making the conference are extremely low unless you have a valid US visa.
