Hi my wp is expiring soon. My employer applied for lmia but yesterday we received a rejection. My only hope is my nomination. My question is can I apply for work permit extension while waiting for nomination, even though I know it will just be rejected, I just needed some time to prevent me from being on restoration?

before your work permit expires, apply for the visitor record by paper application. this process usually takes about 3 months to complete, but what you need to hope is that you would get your nomination in between this time, if you dont then you will really need to leave Canada.
when you apply for visitor record and in a mean while you will have the implied status, this lets you do whatever you were doing before this application in your case you will be able to continue working but one thing to remember though is you will not be able to renew your SIN number until you have an actual document. But some employers wont care but some will ask you to cease working for them until you do.

Thank you for your reply.. Just some clarification, can i still work even though my wp expired while my visitor visa is on process? What if my visitor visa was granted, does it mean i can stay it canaad and lastly what if my visitor application was rejected do i have to leave canada immediately or I can still apply for restoration? Im so confused now...
