Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if I'm being too paranoid but I just want some advice and/or reassurance.

Right now I'm backpacking and working abroad for a year and a bit.

I became a PR in Canada in March 2014 and got my PR card in June 2014, I've been living in Canada since late 2011 on a workers visa.

From June 2014-Sep 2017 I was a PR and lived worked in Canada during that time frame and took vacations outside the country during that period totaling nearly 2 months.

I decided to go temporary backpacking and working abroad from Sep 2017 until around October-Dec 2018 as a little thing I've always wanted to do to see the world .

From what I'm seeing since I attained the 2 years requirement in the past 5 years I should be fine right? I dunno why but I'm kinda panicking I will not be let back in Canada as a PR for being out the country for a while or something so just some feedback on this to help clear my head.

Everytime I mention I'm a PR in Canada to someone abroad they always go "wow, aren't you worried you're going to lose your residence?" OR "is that ok for you to be gone from Canada for so long?".

Many thanks :)

Did any of them know the residency requirement for Canadian PRs? I am guessing no. It's just things people say for small talk.

It looks like you're good, as just as long as you maintain the residency requirement in a rolling 5 year period.

you already have 3+ years in the period Mar 2014-Mar 2019. No worries.
