I received my eCOPR a few days ago. I'm currently in Canada working on a work permit. I understand the permit is now void and won't be accepted on returning to Canada when travelling abroad.

I'm going to the US in 2 days for one week to have a reunion with family, who are flying there halfway to meet me after many months. It's not long enough for me to get a PR travel document whilst I'm there.

Can I cross a land border between the US and Canada with my British passport and eCOPR document when I return? Does anyone have a link to the IRCC website where it says this is allowed?

No issue at a land border. Looked quickly and don’t have an IRCC source but the information on a law firm site was easy to find.

Thank you!

I'm assuming if I cross the border by foot, that counts too, as long as I'm not doing it in a commercial/non-private vehicle?
Absolutely. On foot, rented car, taxi are all good. As for commercial, you need to check with them if you will be able to board. That might be risky.

There is the option to take a bus to the border city, cross the border on foot or even a taxi/Uber if they have their passport and you are willing to pay for their time. The issue is that a bus or train can’t wait for you while you have to deal with CBSA/immigration issues which is why you can’t take a bus ride straight through. You can hop on a bus or train on the Canadian side of the border.l although you may need to take a taxi/uber to the station.
