Sorry if iam late on this. Is NYC also on Strike? I read from the PAFSO website

"As of today, all eligible members are striking in the following locations: Manila, Beijing, Bangkok, Jakarta, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chongqing and Astana. Immigration officers are striking in Delhi, Chandigarh, London, Moscow and Mexico City. In Tokyo, economic officers are also on strike. Additional withdrawals of service are impacting dozens of divisions at CIC and DFAIT headquarters in Ottawa."[/i

CIC website says they are on a Strike but still says NYC 2 months as processing time. How successful would i be if i go in person to NYC embassy. They say applications will be processed based on Humanitarian grounds. I will have a Job only if i get my Visa.

I think most of the people are in a similar situation... there doesn't seem to be a way to expedite the procedure, they process the applications one by one. The most you can gain is about a week.

May I know which email address you have used to contact the visa office at NYC.
Thanks

Just sent a email today. I'd applied on June 24th through mail. So I probably have a long wait.

Dear Sir/Madam,
This is in response to your email below.
Processing has begun on this application and is now in queue for assessment.
All applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received. An exact schedule of completion is not available at this time as our processing time is a minimum of (30) thirty days. Our office is currently finalizing applications received on March 18, 2013.
Generally we do not return passports when we have started processing on an application. However if you require your passport back sooner, and wish to withdraw your application, please send a message to this e-mail address. Please be sure to put the following in the subject line: "Request to withdraw application". In your email, please be sure to include your full name, your date of birth, your sex, your passport number
Regards,
Immigration Section
Consulate General of Canada
New York, NY USA

Congrats.
Hopefully they're done with March and starting with April they'll pick it up.
By the way, does anyone know how often they reject work permit applications? I'm guessing not so often. Maybe it depends on the field.

Hi, @acmd, could you tell us the Medicals is requested by the consulate on June 8th or you did it by yourself in advance ?

Try the Visa application Center in New York. I submitted mine there last week and I already got medical request from them today. Good luck!
