Work Permit Application (To VAC) in NY in July

I submitted my application to VAC (paper application with my original passport) on July 30, 2014 and my current status from VAC is "Application Received by the Visa Office - Under Consideration". My current visa to US will expire at the end of September. Has anyone here applied in July or August to VAC and received any updates?

Thanks Spuri for your update. But two more questions:

1. have you applied through VAC? If so, didn't you submit your passports together with your application to VAC on July 9th?
2. When did you receive your passport with the visa stamp?

Hi Colin1017,

I applied online through the CIC website. So I did not have to send in my passport. They review the application and once they decide to grant the visa they ask for the passport to be sent in to their nyc office (for work permits). I paid the visa application fee online, but once I sent in the passport to nyc I had to pay an additional fee of $34.10 for passport processing. I received the request for passport on Aug 23 and sent in it on Aug 25th which was delivered to them on Aug 26th. I am still waiting to get my passport back.

Glad to hear that. Hopefully you will receive your passport with the stamp this week!! So it is 2 months to get the passport stamped in your case.

Hi Spuri, have you received your stamped passport yet? When did you receive it? I just want to know the length of waiting period. I know you submitted your application online on July 9. I submitted mine through VAC on July 30. I have to get my passport with visa stamp back before September 30, which is a 2-month period. I am not sure if I can get it back by then.

Hi Colin1017, I have not yet received my passport. They apparently sent it out today morning, but the USPS tracking number for the return envelope does not show any activity yet.

I submitted my application for work permit to VAC on July 31 and I received my passport with the stamp today (September 18). VAC is a little faster.

When did you get to know whether your work permit has been approved or rejected? Was it a suspense till the time you received your passport or did any status or email indicate that it has been approved? If so, what date did you get this confirmation?

b) Work Permit approved letter from Consulate 15th October

my timeline

29th September application received at NY VAc, asked for additional document
3rd Oct - application sent after document received
6th October - application received under consideration..

Application type - work permit for live in care giver
