Pre-Assessed..
Hello All

I am done with my PG diploma and i got my results on May 1st 2016. My study permit expires on August 1st 2016.

1. I heard there is a 90 days time period we can take to apply for a work permit.

2. I was also told that i should apply for my work permit 30 days before my study permit expires.

Which statement is true??

When can i apply for my work Permit??

Please guide me

You must apply for the PGWP within 90 days of completing your program. Your study permit must be valid at the time you apply.

Am working right now. AM being paid through my SIN Number. My SIN Number also expires along with my Study permit.

If it is 90 days. I can apply on July 25th also. What will happen to my SIN number?

Will it be valid?

Hi Sunitha,

You must have to apply for your PGWP within 90 days of your program completion as well as before at least 30 days of your study permit expiry. If you have applied your PSWP and study permit expire before PGWP approve you can still work during this time. This time duration is your gross period.

Thanks,
Krunal

August 1st my study permit expires. You mean to say now is the right time?

I should not wait till 75th day (90 days time period)??

I would have applied in May. Sometimes applications are refused due to missing documents / incorrect fees. If you wait and apply at the end, and then your application is refused - you'll end up in a restoration situation where you cannot work and have to wait a number of months for the restoration application to be approved. If you apply early, there's a good chance the application may be refused before your study permit expires and you'll be able to submit the application again (rather than having to also go through the restoration process).

Hi Sunitha,

Yes, This is the right time. you should apply as soon as possible. If you need any help to apply online please let me know.

Thanks,
Krunal
