I moved to Canada on 30-Jun-22, on an Spousal Open Work Permit with my family. My work permit was issued on 08-Apr-22, and specifically forbids me to "2. UNLESS AUTHORIZED, PROHIBITED FROM ATTENDING ANY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION, OR TAKING ANY ACADEMIC, PROFESSIONAL OR VOCATIONAL TRAINING COURSE.".
However I came across this news from IRCC which says people on work permit can study without a study permit - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...orary/workers-study-without-study-permit.html. On the basis of this, I enrolled for an Early Childhood Educator Course from Pacific Rim Early Childhood Institute. It is a part-time and distance learning course.
My work permit expired on 08-Apr-25, I applied for an extension on 13-Dec-24 and got an extension for 2 years today. The new work permit also has the same clause - "2. UNLESS AUTHORIZED, PROHIBITED FROM ATTENDING ANY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION, OR TAKING ANY ACADEMIC, PROFESSIONAL OR VOCATIONAL TRAINING COURSE.".
I am worried that it may lead me to trouble. I have few questions -
1. While applying for renewal of work permit, I checked no for "Attended school without authorization". Because I thought that I was authorized - can this be construed as misrepresentation?
2. The link says that one continue studies until work permit expires. Since my work permit expired and I got an extension, am I allowed to continue?
Please help with best course of action.
