Hello,

I read on mto.gov.on.can that new comers (from countries such as India) can claim 12 month experience without any proof. It is not clear if this 12 month experience is enough to try for G2. Can someone please clarify?

Thanks

Proof in the form of original drivers licence and authentication letter from the issuing authority is required. After 12 months experience is taken into consideration, a person do not have to wait and can go directly for G2 after G1 test.
There is no exemption from driving licence authentication letter.

Hi Explorer101,

Thanks for the reply. Here is what is says in the mto document ( http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/handbook/section1.12.0.shtml )

"Applicants are required to provide adequate proof of foreign licensed driving experience. However, if that is not possible, the ministry will accept an applicant’s declaration of their foreign licensed driving experience on the driver’s licence application for up to a maximum of 12 months licensed experience."

My situation is that we got the driving license for my wife from a different state than where we are living now. Instead of going there and applying for this letter, can we go for G1 road test (for G2 license)after taking few classed in Canada?

Thanks again
