Guys,
I got my PR through family spouse sponsorship and living with my spouse outside Canada for the last 5 years, which qualifies me to renew my PR!

Q: I applied renewal a month ago. I have been asked by immigration officer to appear in person for the PR card renewal. Is this normal and any advices or cautions are highly appreciated here.

Thanks...

It is not normal, but nothing to be overly alarmed about. Your case is non-standard since you are using an exception to meet your RO (living with Canadian citizen spouse abroad). Hence you will get a bit more scrutiny and hence the request to come in.

And a request to come in is frequently given to people who are not living inside Canada, or who met RO outside Canada with a spouse, since you're not supposed to apply for the renewal from outside Canada.

thanks- I was visiting Canada for a vacation during the time of application submission. Overall, yes, i am living outside.

Importantly: Is there anything particular documents I have to carry along with me? I am planning to bring relationship proof, children school reports, bank accounts, etc.

It is fairly typical for people to have to pick up their PR cards in person and their current records are usually examined to make sure they are still compliant with their RO.

Hello Muykhan , I am in the similar situation, would appreciate if you could let me know about your experience in the interview?
