Should the person I'm sponsoring get his medical done before he sends in his full PR application? or should he only get it done once its requested?
Also, are there any forms we need to bring or does the Panel Physician have everything at their office?

Since you're doing spousal sponsorship, then the sponsored person definitely needs to get his medical exam done before sending his PR application (economy class applicants, though, I believe do it only when requested. At least that's how it was for my parents, me, and my sister, almost 14 years ago. But not sure if it's still the same now.)

Since the CIC has implemented a new e-Medical system, I don't think he will need to bring a form (people used to have to bring a form called Appendix C, but it's no longer available anyway). But he may need to bring his glasses, provide five 4x6 cm photos, and his passport (my wife had to bring those). The safest thing to do is: get him to call his DMP ahead, to ask what he should bring.

At the end of the exam session, he should get a slip called IMM 1017, which he will have to include in the application package... =)

He Fandv where have you been my friend. We lost you. How is your process going about?

BTW. to the OP

As fandv said but try to make them even the last day before you actually send them. This will give you enough time because the medicals have a validity of 12 months. My spouse had them January 31st 2013 and we send our apps on Feb 6th.

Here's my question. I'm getting married in october. Say I have my certificate in a week (I wishful thinking, I know) and my new passport 3 days later, since they are scheduling 2wks out should I make it as soon as I get married or should I wait? Since I am visa- exempt, will I need my passport or just the photos and some proof of name change? Just trying to get the timing right to get it out as soon as possible.

Where are you getting married? If you are getting married in Ontario, it takes up to 3 months to get the certificate. I would wait until you have all your paperwork and everything ready then go for the medicals. We were dumb and got the medicals done in Nov.. and applied in March. Thankfully we got an extension but not everyone gets one obviously.

Ah, I'm getting married in the US ( in my home state) The certificate is issued as soon as the marriage is registered so it really depends on how quick the officiant is ( actually could be like a week- 10 days). I will have as much of the paperwork done as I can prior to the wedding so all I'd be waiting on was the certificate, new passport and if need be, my medicals.

Just make sure it's the official certificate. NOT the one you sign. They won't accept that. I've asked that a few times haha. Good luck! The whole process is daunting but you can do it!! :D

thanks for the tip, and the support, this is quite a process but we are getting through it. It's getting a little easier to deal with. Plus my fiance is quite supportive and caring. My mother said that should we need an interview that it would be quite obvious we are in love :). Lol
