Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I am applying for my second visitor visa extension. My partner and I do not plan to mail off the initial PR application until the summer so I would like to extend until then.

So far this is the only reason I could come up with.
"I would like to remain in Canada so that my partner and I can finish the preparation of our application for permanent residence. We intend to apply from within Canada and my partner and I would like to remain living together during the processing as we feel it is very important in the development of our relationship. I would also like to spend more time visiting as I feel I haven't got to see as much as I would like to. I feel I have much more to learn and see during my stay here."

Are there any ways I can better word anything or do you think this will be alright?
How hard is it to get a second extension?
Is it fairly easy for Americans to get extensions? Just wondering.

If you have extended your stay or your partner has, what was your experience?
What did you include and say as your reason for staying? Was it approved or denied?

I have to send this off it a couple of days seeing as my first extension is due to expire on January 31, 2010.
So I could really use some help before sending this off. I just want to be reassured knowing I did my best, you know.

I applied for an extension of stay and basically said "I'd like to spend more time with my wife" (who is a PR and was my sponsor for PR) and they gave a me a year's extension (even though I only asked for 6 months). I'm Swedish, though I think an American would have an even easier time.

When my husband (US citizen) had to get his visitor visa extended he said his exact intentions. He had applied Inland for permanent residence because we had just recently got married. He didnt have any problems and they extended him for another year.

Thanks everyone. You have given me a much needed peace of mind and hope. :)
I guess even though I know in the back of my mind we will be okay I just have that doubt for a bit. I guess that is normal for this type of thing.

Maybe I was totally off here but Colormepanda, I thought you were already a PR. Did you not land in NS or someplace on the East end? Maybe I am thinking of someone else...

Hi ColorMePanda,

Here is my experience: I came to Canada on December 8th, 2008, and was allowed to stay up to June 7th, 2009. On May 8th the CIC-Vegreville received my application for extension - I asked to extend my stay until December 8th, 2009. On August 14th they send me a letter saying my extension was approved, and the extension was given until August 13th, 2010.

My reason was that I wanted to remain in Canada with my husband. Since my sponsorship application was already being processed at the Visa Office, I included both letters from CPC-M stating that my husband was approved as my sponsor and the AOR from the Visa Office.

you were really lucky, Miryam. wish they would be so kind to all applications.
