Would it be an issue to have a layover in a different Canadian city than your destination city when landing as a new PR? I am looking at tickets and tickets from Montreal or Toronto as a layover are significantly cheaper than landing straight in Vancouver. What would be a good layover time and would there be any issues if you don’t speak English during the immigration landing process? Please share your thoughts, thank you so much

Your landing procedures will take place in the first city you reach. So in this case landing procedures would take place in Montreal or Toronto. I would make sure you have 4-6 hours between flights for landing procedures. Make sure it's all booked on a single ticket. That way if landing takes longer and you miss the connection, the airline will simply put you on the next available flight. Airports have translators at customs / immigration.
