What if you didn't fill in EVERY SINGLE blank?

Like what if a whole section or form wasn't applicable so you just put "not applicable" in the first blank of each section then drew a line through most of the blanks? I didn't do that for the places that asked for dates, will they return my application?

I figured I didn't need to do anything to the date portions as I figured they would see that the section didn't apply and wouldn't mind if the date section had n/a or a line in it or not.

How did you fill yours in when things weren't applicable?
I filled mine in on the computer and since some places wouldn't let you entered text into it, I just left them blank. I really hope this won't be an issue since I did write it where possible.

If I filed INLAND, how long would it take for me to know whether they were going to return the application or not?

really - I'm sure it's fine. no one submits a perfect application.

even if it does cause the application to be sent back....nothing you can do about it now - it's already gone, and it will either be sent back or not.

I mean this very gently, and kindly - in the interest of helping you have less anxiety: can you take a break from worrying about the application for just a day or two? I know it is a hard and stressful process, and part of the difficulty is that we have no control over the process, and we get very little information along the way. You've applied inland - you have a long wait ahead of you until you hear anything back from CIC. It really does not do you any good to be worried about the parts of the process you can't control. Anxiety and stress are part of the process, but worrying about these details will not help your process go any faster!

I'm sure I didn't write 'na" in all of the blanks. Positive, in fact. So far, my application has not been returned, and if it is, all I can do is fix whatever they tell me to fix, and re-submit. No point getting bent out of shape about it, even though I'll be very disappointed.

if your fears are about your status in Canada in the meantime, is there another way for you to address that - extend your VR? Something? that can help ease your anxiety??

Well I am taking RobsLuv's advice and not submitting an extension request separately since I already submitted an OWP with the initial application and she thinks this could only confuse them more and make the situation worse, which I agree.

It might sound bad but I am just hoping that other people have made worse mistakes and still went through okay.

well if you submitted an OWP - won't that be considered separately from your PR application??

One thing I have come to realize, is that there is little to no point in comparing my application to anyone elses. I might file the same day and we might think we have similar cases but the processing times might be totally different. Everyone's application is different. I don't think there's much comfort to be gained there. I think it all depends on the person actually looking at your application.

If it helps any, I certainly didn't fill in EVERY SINGLE blank. I only filed a week or so ago, same as you. I don't even think CPC-M has opened my package, let alone looked at my files, but I will be happy to let you know if my application gets returned because I didn't fill in every blank.

Well I am not sure if they look at it separately or not but I don't think so. They don't even look at it until you qualify for first stage approval.

But yes, if you don't mind, I would like to know if yours goes through fine. That is if you don't mind. I am sure you will find out before me since they will be assessing yours before ours.

no problem, but like I said, whether or not my application gets sent back doesn't necessarily reflect whether yours will or will not. Might just be that the agent reviewing my file has had a really good/bad day....

Thanks for sharing everybody.
BritinCanada what did you do for the sections that didn't apply and also had a place to put a date?
I can try to explain better if you can't quite understand.

Same here. If that's an issue worthy of rejection then I don't know how *anyone* gets processed :)

I wrote "Not Applicable" in Every section that did not apply to me, or my spouse, then put a Diagonal line through the whole section.. for example in the sponsored spouse questionnaire I had to fill out the sections for married couples..so the sections for Common-law Q20, Q21, Q22, Q23 I wrote "Not applicable" and put lines through the boxes, For a Q's That did not pertain to me that had a date I just said NO or Ticked the box for no and put a line through the box for the date.

Is that what you mean?

I just wrote Not Applicable or N/A through the sections. I typed mine out, so the spots where I could fill something in I would put Not Applicable. Other than that, just a simple N/A for the header I'm sure is fine! I mean, if the header doesn't apply, why would any of the sections?

I think they only return it to you if a section or question that actually pertains to you is missed.
