Hello all,

I have applied as the principal applicant under the skilled worker program including my spouse and our baby on the application form.

We are both actively looking for work in Canada. Can anyone tell me what would happen if my spouse was offered a job in Canada before me? Would everything still be processed under our existing file number and do you think it would help fast-track our application?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

M

Also, what happens to the fees we have already submitted with the simplified application form?#

Can anybody shed any light?

Thanks

If your wife were the principal applicant, it might have an effect. But since she isn't, it won't.

You also wouldn't be able to accompany her without qualifying in your own right. You would need your own job offer, work permit, or TRV. Not sure whether they would allow you in at all for a visit, since your PR application indicates your intention to stay.

None of this changes the fees you would end up paying. You still pay RPRF, for instance - whether you happen to be in Canada at the time or not.

Hi Thaiguy thanks very much for getting back to us.

ManiB IS the principal applicant and also the wife.

If my husband was to get a job, whilst the original skilled worker application in my name was in process, would it simply be a matter of informing the embassy of the employment offer made to my husband and continuing with the application. Or would my husband need to submit a new application under the PNP stream?

Thanks again

M

Sorry for the gender confusion, ManiB.

Immigration and work permits are handled by separate entities, so you don't need to submit an entirely new application.

Just inform CIC that your husband has secured employment.
