Can the spouse work while the principal applicant leave canada, on maintained status

I have a question and would appreciate your help.

• I am the main applicant for Permanent Residency under the Canadian Experience Class, in the Healthcare stream.
• I recently applied for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) and SOWP for spouse.
• I am planning to leave Canada for a family visit.

I know that if I leave after my current work permit expires, I must wait for my PR decision from outside Canada.

My question is:
If I (the main applicant) leave Canada, can my spouse stay here and continue working on their Bridging Open Work Permit? and receive PR approval when it is finalized?
