What happens to my study permit once my work permit arrives?

I am an international student on a study permit which is valid until 2021. However, I changed my course from 2 years to 1 year after arriving in Canada. My course is ending April 2020. If I get my work permit then, what happens to my study permit as it would still be valid for another year? If it stays valid along with my work permit, can I use it to enroll into another course in Fall 2020? If accepted to the course in Fall 2020, will I lose my work permit based on the program of study completed in April 2020? Thank you.

1. Your study permit is invalidated by the Work Permit.
2. If you applied for a new study permit for the fall of 2020 your work permit is then invalid and replaced by the study permit.

Thank you so much for your reply. I believe if I am on work permit based on my current study, the work permit won't be for more than 1 year. Is it extendable? Also, if I want to enroll for a part-time course in fall 2020 which would be less than 6 months, can i still enroll for such a course while on work permit? Would such a course add any value to my application as a PR if I pursue it? Thanks again for your reply.
