So i need to ask them that i need a rcmp done for permanent residence. It include only finger printing.Does it also inlude criminal record check.

RCMP Certified Criminal Record Check is a check performed by RCMP through your fingerprints where it is matched with the national repository of known criminals, sex offenders etc.

go for digital....i don't think RCMP takes manual anymore...plus manual takes 120 days or more whereas digital takes 72 hours tops but usually done in 3-4 hours.

The fingerprints are taken for the RCMP clearance. They don't do fingerprints for fun. :P

I need RCMP done and sent with my application for cec.

Applications for permanent residence do NOT require RCMP clearances. Applicants are required to submit clearances for every country they have lived in EXCEPT Canada. See
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/infORmation/security/police-cert/intro.asp

CIC automatically conducts name-based RCMP checks for all applicants. On occasion, CIC will request that an applicant get a fingerprint-based RCMP check (if the name-based check is not clear). But you do NOT need to submit this with your application, or at all, unless CIC asks for it.

Can anyone say what does it mean and steps to take it.

If CIC does request it, it is much faster to get it done electronically, than on a traditional fingerprint card. You usually have to go to a private agency for the electronic services.

I believe RCMP checks are only asked if searches of your name, etc against various databases gets results and the VO wants to investigate further.
