Dears,

I am about to send my transcripts via my university to WES for ECA. WES instructed that the transcripts should be in a sealed envelope stamped by my university at the back flap of the envelope. I went to DHL today and asked if they would open the envelope and they said " YES ! for security checks", I argued with them that it is instructed that the envelope should be sealed ! Yet they replied that they will add a security check sticker after opening and that there are no exceptions to that :o !!

Would WES accept that ?! Anyone had a similar experience !? Experts please help !

Thanks in advance,

They give you student package and they dont open your sealed envelopes

I posted the marksheets using DHL India, in my case, they asked for the contents and I confirmed that they were documents.
They offered me the student package and said they won't open up the envelope. It seems they were aware of the sealed envelope situation for the transcripts and complied with it. Go ahead, check with them.

Thank you guys for the feedback! cheers,

Dear fbdtotnt,

Thanks for the helpful information, I will try to ask them about the student package, although I will be sending the documents from Syria which is at war now sadly, maybe they instruct much more strict rules than India due to the current situation.

Anyhow just another question, Do I need to attest the transcripts along with the translations from any government organization besides my University (eg. Ministry of foreign affairs or Ministry of higher education) ? kindly tell me about what you did.

Many thanks in advance,

Yes, you can get your documents translated from any registered translator body provided they provide there complete credentials in case WES or CIC need to get in touch with him/her

So you mean I only need the certified translator's attesting along with their credentials to be clear ,and No need for any other government officials (like the ministry of foreign affairs or ministry of higher education) ?

Offcourse you need to get your documents attested by higher education comission of your country as stated by WES apart from official translation of those attested documents

So what you are saying is basically that my original documents must be attested by the ministry of higher education commission and ministry of foreign affairs, and then translated by an authorized translation agency.

Just to be sure, do I have to attest the official translation of the original attested documents ?!

Hi Manar,

I am preparing my documents to be sent from Syria too so I wonder if you have sent your documents and how did you handle the sealed envelop issue with DHL?

Thx

Hi MMCanada2014,

I am still trying to find a way to send it through the university but still in vain, no one seems to have a clue about it.. they are totally lost .. It seems that I will have to send it through DHL, but the problem is that they refused to send with opening the sealed envelope to check the contents, I am still trying to find another way around ..

What did your university tell you ?

Hi Manar,

Thx for the reply

My institution refused to send it directly so one of my friends will pick up a sealed envelop with the required docs and send it via DHL, but I just read your post accidentally today and found out that security issue with DHL . It's frustrating, it's an envelop containing papers so what they want to search inside? But my concern if DHL is following this procedure then will any other courier provider in Syria not follow?? I mean even if it send directly by the university how you will be sure the courier company will not open it too??

I guess I will give a try & send it via DHL. WES needs to know that Syria is a very exceptional case right now and thanks god we are still able to get the documents from our universities

BTW, is there any other express mail company still operating in Syria?

I heard that there are FedEx and Aramex, but the thing is that my friend went and asked the guys at DHL and they said they would open it before accepting to send, they also mentioned that they might open in Damascus as well. I sent an Email to DHL to clarify this issue but with no answer.. security checks are common for courier companies and especially in Syria as you are well aware.. I sent an Email earlier to WES with regards to the situation in Syria but they replied "no exceptions!"

Well I believe best way is to try and send. Meanwhile, I am working on some attesting for my documents and after will take the shot ..

Please let me know in case you checked if Fedex or Aramex would agree to send without opening the envelope .. I have limited access as I am from Homs and things tend to get difficult most of the times..

Thanx in advance
