Indian Dentist applying for Canada PR – Confused about ECA (WES vs other organizations), transcripts & document submission (2025–2026)

Hi everyone,

I'm an internationally trained dentist from India preparing for Canada PR and planning to complete my Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) on my own, without using an immigration consultant.

My educational background is:

• BDS
• MDS (Periodontics)
• Around 4–5 years of clinical experience

I'm getting conflicting information regarding the ECA process for dentists, and I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have recently completed it.

Some people have suggested:

• WES
• IQAS
• CES
• ICES
• Other designated ECA organizations

I'm also getting different information about how academic documents should be submitted.

I've heard that:

1. Universities must send official transcripts in a sealed envelope directly to the ECA organization.
2. Universities now send documents electronically.
3. Documents can be verified and shared digitally through NSDC Trust, without the need for sealed envelopes.

I'm confused about which process is currently being followed and whether it depends on the university or the ECA organization.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has completed an ECA recently, especially internationally trained dentists or other healthcare professionals.

My questions are:

• Which ECA organization did you choose, and why?
• If you're a dentist or healthcare professional, would you still choose the same organization today?
• Which method was used for your document submission (sealed envelope, electronic transmission, or NSDC Trust)?
• Did you have to request fresh official transcripts from your university?
• Was everything completed online, or did you need to visit your university in person?
• Did the ECA organization request any additional documents after the initial submission?
• How long did the complete ECA process take?
• Were there any unexpected delays or common mistakes that future applicants should avoid?
• If you were starting the process again today, what would you do differently?
