Any idea how many people got Passport copy requests instead of PPRs??

I came across two instances recently. I'm sure there are more.

This isn't necessarily true. People from visa exempt countries do not get PPR at all. They directly get their CoPR in the mail. I was referring to a new scenario where some applicants are getting passport photocopy request. CIC then books a landing appointment in a local CIC office and notifies the applicant. In this case you don't have to cross border / flagpole to do the landing. The selection for this approach is random as of now. Applicants did not request themselves for landing appointments. In my opinion this makes total sense for applicants who currently live in Canada as it will cut down a lot of time in visa stamping process. Just imagine we won't be writing in this thread if appointments were already scheduled for us

Hi,

My passport was received by Ottawa office on 13th June and was received by MS Cound.Tracker hasn't activated yet.My wife and my son's passport were submitted on 20th June in Islamabad, Pakistan.None of us has received any notification about passports yet.So it is total of 44 business days now excluding all weekends and stat holidays.

Anyone here is in same situation ?

Anybody has any idea , if due to emergency , you have to travel out of Canada, what are the options ? I hold an year long work permit but that doesn't allow you to come back to Canada or fly out from here.

you are in a tough situation, i dont why they hold the passport for so long.
its very disrespectful, if you ask for passport means everything has been done.
what if someone has an emergency and wants to travel.
there should be a complained department, where we can submit our problems

Passport received 29 July , Return Tracker not activated yet ....Worried!! I know a close family friend , he submitted passport oct 2013 since then he is waiting , no response from cic even after sending couple emails ...

By the way what was the reason of delaying your application did they as additional documents in between, where was it stuck after medicals or before that, did they refer ur case for medical review?

Schedule 8 had some issues. Now its ok i am just waiting for my passport.
