Congrats on becoming a permanent resident ! How did it go? Did they ask you for any documents (proof of funds etc)?

I'm planning to land this weekend @ Peace Bridge, Fort Erie.

Regarding the last entry date: I wont bother to request a correction as it is not critical data. I anyways have proof of entry with CBSA stamp on my passport.

I did my landing today at Prescott borders and they put the same mistake in my COPR, but the CBSA officer told me not to worry about it they have records of everything.

However, I did my landing today after 13 mnths of process, we all wouldn't get to this position without the help of this forum.

Thanks all and I wish you all the best.

It was straight forward process, they did not request any extra documents beside the COPR & passport.

Good luck.

thanks! sooo excited to finish the process and finally have PR status. ;D

Sorry to ask again.

Do you need to have all your current and old work permits? Do they tear them?

I have my current work permit. I don't have all my old work permits. Hope they don't ask me old ones.

Hey eds,
Sorry I don't have reply to your question but please let me know if your COPR was stapled in the passport or it was loose in the envelope. Thanks :)

I dont believe you need to have all of your permits. From what I understand, you are actually allowed to remove the old ones from your passport. My buddy went for landing and I guess they told him that he doesnt need to have them in the passport. Even if they were stapled.

Just to be sure, until you complete your landing...I would bring the most current (latest) one with you. Thats what I'm doing...and my opinion. :)

CoPR was not stapled. It was kept loose in the envelope .

No, they didnt even ask for them. Dont worry it is the easiest thing you would do.

Hi Seniors and PRs:

Received COPR (lose/not stapled - CIC copy with photo, client copy with out photo) & PPs today.

Kindly suggest is my understanding right?

1. For US borned children / (USA passport holders), only COPR will be issued....No PR visa stamp inside the passport. Right?

2. After signing on both COPRs, client copy will be with us with an immigration stamp on it and CIC copy will be taken by landing officer. Right?

3. COPR/visa validity is for one year only but when we get PR card later it will have 5 years of validity like a driving license. Right? Irrespective of passport expiry date.

4. One year valid visa in passport is just for landing. But the PR card of 5 yr validity along with valid passport are required for travel etc.....Right?

5. After landing PR visa of 1 year validity does not matter.

6. Any other points you would like to add on this context.

THANK YOU EACH AND EVERY ONE ON THE FORU, FOR ALL HELP, SUPPORT & WISHES. I WISH ALL SUCCESS.

Correct.

I just landed. There was no immigration stamp on CoPR. Only your signature and officers signature. However, Page across visa will be stamped as a proof of landing.

3. COPR/visa validity is for one year only but when we get PR card later it will have 5 years of validity like a driving license. Right? Irrespective of passport expiry date.

CoPR is record that you became permanent resident - it is considered complete when both you and officer sign it at the border. Visa becomes invalid the moment you land - it is a single entry visa. PR card serves as a single document for proof of permanent residency and travel purposes. PR card is valid for 5 years.

4. One year valid visa in passport is just for landing. But the PR card of 5 yr validity along with valid passport are required for travel etc.....Right?

Correct. PR card will be valid for 5 years and is required for all travel into Canada.

5. After landing PR visa of 1 year validity does not matter.

PR visa validity means you must land before the visa expires. Once you land, the PR visa is not valid anymore. You cannot use the visa for subsequent travels. For travel after becoming PR, you must use the PR card.

6. Any other points you would like to add on this context.

Nope.
