can you please share your landing experience at the alberta coutts border,as this will be helpfull for other members who are planning to do their landing there?
how long did it take?
did the officer asked for any other documents beside the passport and COPR?
was the experience good overall or you had any issues?

hi there!

Well... I can definitively give feedback about the entire PR experience. But to answer your question first this is what my wife and I did:

• Got our passports back from Ottawa on Wednesday afternoon
• We left Calgary, AB on the same Wednesday at 7:00pm
• Due to heavy traffic in Calgary we arrived at Coutts border (US side first) at 10:20pm but a huge cue of cars/trucks in front of us
• 10:40pm we got the letter from the US Immigration officer informing us about the denied access into the USA and got escorted back to the Canadian side of the border (this is 100% normal procedure... I even thought that mentioning the term "Flagpoling" wouldn't be a good idea... guess what?!?! you are not the only one doing it, it is the "official/un-official" term for what we did)
• 10:50pm our turn with the Canadian Immigration officer and after some compulsory question and answers...
• 11:10pm... we were granted our 100% Canadian Permanent Residence
  

Flagpoling is perfectly normal, legal and both Immigration officers know about it... and nothing wrong about getting the "weird" letter from the USA officer. This has to be handed over to the Canadian officer on your arrival to the office.

To avoid driving tired at night back to Calgary, we booked a small Motel in Lethbridge arriving aprox at 12:30am.. and early next day we drove back to Calgary, right into a Canada Services office to get the new SIN! 8)

What is the avg time process for getting passport from submission?

Sent my passport yesterday.

I didn't receive a formal PPR though, however I am hopeful I will get a Visa.

What is the average time for return lately?

currently the average times to get passport back with a visa stamped in and COPR is 3 weeks,sometimes less and rarely more.

so based on your story,the immigration officer didn't ask to see bank statements,pay slips? didn't collect work permits back?

hi there... well immigration officer didn't ask for any extra documents but our passports and the "denial access" letter from the USA officers.

The work permits... we even didn't show them to him, he just strikedthrough the one-entry resident visa stamped on our passports and done!

Then he goes through the questions in the CoPR letter asking for criminal actions, etc... "initial here, sign here, date here... done!"

It's extremly simple, no questions asked and he even provides you a sheet of paper stating your right to become canadian citizen, reminder about updating SIN and alberta health care records... and voilá, you're out!

Looks like CIC is working pretty good at the moment, and usual turn-around time is about two weeks to 20 days.

Our timelines are very similar, I sent my passport and my wife's two weeks ago.
If we won't unlucky this time we should get it back in one week or so.

Looks like CIC is working pretty good at the moment, and usual turn-around time is about two weeks to 20 days.

I sent my passport on Nov.5th and received by CIC on Nov.7th.
Nov.11th is the holiday and hopefully I will hear back from them by the end of November. ;D

Well, according to the PPR letter from CIC, you'd better attach the original PPR letter with your passport in the envelope.

If you have a mailing address in Canada: To allow you to track your passports through the mail, we strongly recommend that you purchase two (2) PREPAID Canada Post Xpresspost envelopes (National), letter-sized (318 x 241 mm), at any Canada Post retail outlet.



- Complete the mailing label on one envelope showing your mailing address in the “Deliver To” field.

- Keep a tracking number sticker from each envelope.

- Fold and enclose the self-addressed envelope in the other envelope along with your passport(s) and a copy of this request letter.

CIC received my passport on Friday. There is a return envelope in the package along with my photo and a letter explaining the situation. My GCMS notes states under the CoPR section "Visa Stamp pending passport". Either they will accept the package with that explanation or they will return the passport without a stamp. All someone in CIC needs to do is to look up my file number and they will know if my passport is required or not. Not a big risk in my opinion.

I got my Passport request on October 21, 2013. Cic Received my passport on October 28, 2013.

Still Tracker not activated. Have any body same time line.

CIC received my passport a week ago and the return tracker has not yet been activated.

I am assuming that is positive and they have accepted my passport for stamping, or else they would have returned it by now. Is that a bad assumption?
