Hi Friends
I landed last week and I have renewed my health card and SIN yesterday.
I am planning to update my PR status to my bank and employer too, probably within this week.
Apart from this I think I should update my new SIN number to CRA too.

Is that all ok?
Apart from this what else shud I do?

When I was at Service Canada, They told no need to update CRA, as they will have it covered when I have my new T4s.

CIC received my passport on October 10th and I have a flight on saturday afternoon.

I received an e-mail from them

Dear Sir/Madam,

Your passport is still in our office and in queue to be returned shortly. Further updates are not available at this time.

Wondering, how come you got the reply from NY office. I was thinking the VISA issuance is now centralized in Ottawa.
I think it will be better to re-think on your Travel dates

I sent them an e-mail telling I have a flight on saturday and conference on next week. On monday they said there is a delay but now they are saying it is in queue.

Do they send it only in the morning or do they send it in the afternoon as well?

I sent my passport 2 days back.
Canada post lady told me to take the top part and took it.

Hopefully they will use it and send it.

Hi everyone,

I sent my passport on Sept 25 and CIC received it on the next day. Until today, I haven't received any mail yet from CIC and my tracking number hasn't actived.

What I'm nervous about is that I made mistake on the returning envelope. I ripped off the top part of the mailing lable, instead of copying the tracking number. I know it is stupid, but I realized it after sending out the package. Of couse, my mailing address is still shown on the envelope, but my friend said CIC can't send back my passport using that Xpresspost envelope since they need the top part, which I ripped off and kept for myself. Did anyone make the same mistake and still got their passport back in the Xpresspost envelope? (I hope no one did, but I need help here) I'm afraid that my passport might get lost using the regular mail. I sent an email to CIC 5 days ago, but they didn't get back to me.

Another help, can someone tell me what's the time requirement for landing? between receiving passport and landing.

u may have time to land but pr card :-\. well, it depends on which province ur in.

Most of the trackers have got their activation time at around 1700 - 1800 Hours. So, it'll be safe to assume all the packages are , at least, Scanned by the CanadaPost in the evening.

I have a similar situation as you. I am travelling on Dec 21st with tickets already purchased back in June. I landed on Sep 29 and it will be a month this 29th. I sent my ticket copy with the passports and got my passports back in 20 days.

During landing, I asked the officer if I can have urgent processing for PR card and he said that everyone wants urgent processing, in other words he said no...so I did not argue with him. Actually urgent processing is only available to those who are applying for renewal or have lost it as per CIC website. Anyways last week I sent a letter to PR card processing Center in Sydney, NS mentioning that I purchased my tickets even before getting PR status and requested them to consider my case.

Normal processing time as of 23rd October is 54 calendar days now (7 weeks and 5 days). At this pace, I should get it by November end but just for safe side I sent the letter. The processing time is decreasing weekly. The first time i saw it was 70 days, week later it was 63, then 61 and now 54.
I guess the end of strike has made all this processing speed possible.

I would suggest you to do the same thing and hope for the best. Land as soon as you get ur ppts. Don't waste even a single day.
