I did my refugee hearing July 14 2026 and it lasted for 4hours. After the hearing the board member said he will make his decision and send it to my lawyer
Ever since then I haven’t heard anything, please how long should I wait to hear the decision

There is no exact timeline. Typically under a month but some don’t hear for months.

A written RPD decision can take 2–3 months or sometimes longer after a hearing, especially when the hearing was lengthy or the case is more complex.

I have same issue
I have been waiting since June 5 2026 after my hearing was held no decision. Now it’s 3 months without nothing yet..
Still don’t know how long this can take.. any idea from anyone… have we seen anybody that waiting for more than 6 months, does a longer waiting period means a good sign or otherwise?

That an RPD member can reserve the decision and send a written decision later. The IRB does not say that a longer wait indicates either acceptance or refusal.

There is no timeline. Not very coming for people to wait for more than 1-2 month for a decision but if the member is doing their own research or wants to consult experts then it can take longer. Your lawyer (and even you) should probably have an idea of what the member may have concerns about based on what happened during the hearing. As others have said the final outcome will depend on why there was the delay and the outcome of whatever extra information was needed. That could mean both a positive or negative final outcome. Impossible to predict. What happened during the hearing and what evidence you presented likely may have provided a better idea of whether you may receive a positive or negative outcome.

I did my hearing a week ago, my claim was flagged for file review initially but later scheduled for virtual hearing. It lasted for not to an hour and the member said the decision will be communicated to me via my counsel in two weeks

The 2 weeks isn’t a firm deadline but each member has their own administrative patterns. Some never give out results in person, some want to deliberate longer than others, some are more behind on administrative tasks. etc. On top of that these are people so they do get sick, have family emergencies, etc which can delay results of hearings: The majority of people receive their results within the month especially now that results are communicated by email. All people can do is wait because it is out of their hands.
