It's incorrect to compare with someone else's timelines. Each application is unique.

Unless there's an emergency/urgent travel, it won't help to contact IRCC with CSEs. So do wait patiently. Hopefully your parents will get decisions soon

I applied for my parents on 16 March and still no updates received except for the first 2 mails

It shows application in progress.

My friend applied on same date same time they got passport request yesterday

Don't call CIC call center, you will end up wasting an hour of your time for some random answers which change depending on the call center agent.

You have a better chance of getting an alien on phone sooner than a CIC agent.

16th March 2017 - Online Application Submitted
17th March 2017 - Application Received by CIC. No any Documents needed. Status is "In Progress".

I also send CSE two times but haven't got any reply.

I have flight on 1st May, 2017 and also submitted flight ticket with Application.

My wife and I had exactly the same timeline as well, except for my wife that received her pass request after 4 days of the fake update, and I haven't yet.

Of course not. It is a help line for your questions and doubts. They have no way to contact the actual office handling the cases, nor more information regarding your file than what is already in myCIC.
