VALIDITY OF TRV (STUDENT CATEGORY)

I read somewhere on this forum that the TRV stamped on the passport is valid for only 3 months. Is this correct? The date of expiration on my TRV is March 2016, and the same date is on the Letter of Introduction.

Can any of the senior members advise which is correct? I'm planning to reach Canada by mid-Dec which will be 4 months from the date of issue of the TRV for me. Will there be any risks of being turned away from the PoE due to invalid TRV?

I bet you must have noticed one "expiry date" on the top line of your TRV, its a date by which you must enter Canada (not a date by which you leave Canada).

I bet you must have noticed one "expiry date" on the top line of your TRV, its a date by which you must enter Canada (not a date by which you leave Canada).

Yes, I was referring to the same date. Thanks, feel better now knowing that I can safely enter anytime before 03/2016.

You must apply for the extension of your TRV & Study Permit 2-3 months before its validity/expiry date. When will your passport expire? If your passport expires on 2018, that clearly explains why your trv/sp is only valid til 2018 because they cannot issue you a visa which exceeds your passport validity. To extend your trv/visa, you must renew your passport before applying for a new trv/visa.

But I guess my trv/permit expires 2018 because I have been accepted into two courses .. one is 4 years long and other 5 years ( fr this course I have to complete a placement test to be fully accepted) so fr the visa process I submitted the acceptance to my 4 year course and conditional acceptance to my 5 year course. So I guess they issued the trv/permit based on my 4 year course. But I'm sure that I will pass the placement test and get accepted to the 5 year course .

Probably. But I'm not quite sure about the process of changing your course/school once you land in Canada. But either way, you will still need to renew your trv/sp before it expires to enter/exit Canada. Are you in Canada already?

No I'm not but I will travel on 28th
