Got the email! Anyone waiting from the recent wave of DMs should be getting theirs, too!

Question for all of you smart people- I've seen comments re: sending your passports once you receive PR. Could someone please explain this process? Is this even if you're an outland applicant? For all types of visas or only certain kinds?

I've applied for Family Sponsorship for myself and children (we've got U.S citizenship). We're a November application, so fingers crossed we'll be processed within the next month or so. We're currently living in Australia. Leaving here in mid-April, traveling in U.S. then arrive in Canada end of April. We'll need our passports to travel so can't mail them to Canada, but can we have whatever needs to be done to them done when we arrive in Canada? Assuming the timing all works out that smoothly :)

I'm a US citizen and they've requested that I just send a scanned copy of my passport and not the actual passport itself. So it sounds like you'll be ok.

Thank you!!! I was getting nervous about the logistics of this and feel so much better now.

Ok this might be a silly question but how big is the COPR? Do they fold it when thy send it? I'm just wondering because I'm heading to Canada Post today to buy the Xpresspost prepaid envelope and I just was wondering what size I should purchase?

Hi guys!

I was wondering how long did it take to get COPR after your background check changed to 'In Progress'? Mine just turned to 'in progress' at Ottawa VO, so was just seeing what other people's timelines were.

Thanks!

buy the small one you can fit your passport in - the one that's half the size of a document envelope. the COPR are 2 - 11x17 pieces of paper, supplemental information will be printed on regular size paper. all the documents can be easily folded. back before this prestamped envelope phase, everything came back in a small brown envelope.

Based on the PPR email since we are mailing from the USA I only need to submit a passport photocopy. My question is what is the best carrier to mail with and how do I go about getting a prepaid envelope? I want to overnight it to them through fed ex or ups. So I mail them an envelope with another one inside for them to mail back to me? Sorry for the silly question but I'm not sure how this works and I'd like to send it out before the weekend.

This is probably a stupid question but this process makes you nervous about everything. We got our PPR email and are just getting everything they've requested.

For the Annex A I still can't believe they just sent it in the email not as an attachment. So I put it into a word doc and was trying to fix it so it could all be on one page. The only way to do that was to delete the french. Does anyone think this could cause issues? My thinking is if they were determined to get a specific document they should have sent a pdf. Am I overthinking this?

Thanks for your help.

Oh and for anyone curious we have used UPS for all the back and forth to Canada during this process and plan to use them to ship the PPR and for the prepaid envelope.

Go to your local FedEx or UPS store (whichever you choose), and ask them for a pre-paid shipping label. They'll need the postcode for the courier address in Ottawa. You'll fill out the pre-addressed label with the US address you want your CoPR coming back to. Stick that in the package you're sending to CPC - Ottawa.

You're also sending 2 PR photos and your Annex A as well, right?
