I've only ordered one set of notes, so can't compare to anything, but I have a group number there as well. it's different than yours and it looks like it was added on 8/1. Not sure it means much except maybe what pile your in...

I'm going to do a case specific inquiry - my medicals are set to expire on 11/27 per my motes and I would like to know if I will need to re-do them. I'd like to get it out of the way sooner rather than later if needed. May or may not get an answer, but if I do, it might give me an indication of where they are in the process.

I have an entry in my August notes that says i'm in group # 2-8TBFVJY, created on August 13, 2015.

One of the most confusing entries in my notes is under the Organizations & Entities, which was apparently created on April 13, 2015, almost a month before my application was submitted. It's called "No Partner Checks Complete Application." There's a long organization/entity ID # and it's an organization, CPCM Data Aggregation and apparently I'm a member effective 6/10/2015. Does anyone have something like this? It doesn't make sense that it was created before I even submitted an application.

I have the same thing - CPCM would probably refer to the Mississauga office and it's maybe some sort of code they use to group your application. As for the date, I imagine that's just a typo. The date for me corresponds to the day before my AOR.

Huh. I don't have that section either.

I'll look for it when my notes come in a few weeks. My first set was from only a few weeks after SA, but I went IP on the same day as a few other people here in the group. Perhaps we are bunched together.

Just curious: have any of you sent any additional proof of relationship to the CIC without being asked after submitting your application?

I read a "tip" that said if you travel to see your spouse/partner after having already submitting the application that you should send those supporting documents to the CIC via the online channels.

Not sure if that's advised, necessary, or needed, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone had done it.

I've gone to visit my fiance after my application was submitted and I didn't send any more proof of relationship. I see no need to unless asked.

It's funny that you ask that, because I was just watching one of those CIC videos about sending in a complete application and they explicitly said not to send any documentation that was not requested.

Guys we got a DM! :D

I was so shocked its like my eyes have been burned in to expect In process to show

So to update our timeline

Applied: Nov 3, 2014
Spouse Approval: Early January 2015
In process: August 6, 2015 (aka the big batch)
DM: October 20th, 2015

Now the wait for the COPR to be mailed. I would love to know how long the COPR took for others? Or if anyone got any information about the COPR from the call centre so I know if its even worth trying.

I believe 3-5 business days, should not take more then 3-4 weeks at most.

I'm sure if we compared the vast number of sites with tips, we'd find a few contradictory tips. :p

I just hadn't heard it ever mentioned, so I figured I'd either made an egregious error, or that person was sorely misguided and steering everyone astray. It was a moment where you think, "Did I just do that wrong?!"

I did that for several weeks after submitting my application. I'd wake up in the middle of the night, wake up my spouse, and wonder if I'd forgotten XX.

Only in the last two months have I managed to sleep through the night without dreaming about the CIC.

Hey guys,

I tried to post this in the Ottawa thread, but to no avail-- Maybe you can help me out with this!

My sponsor and I (we've lived together about 2 years as a common law couple) got married on Saturday (it was a planned ceremony attended by our friends and family from across the US and Canada). We are currently In Process.

How should I go about informing CIC of the change to our marital status? I have a Marriage Commissioner's statement and lots of photos, which I would be able to send immediately-- the actual legal marriage certificate will not arrive for some two to three weeks. Is emailing a scanned copy fine, or do they require hard copies via post? Is it worth sending the "unofficial" document we got on our wedding day, or is it better to wait until we have the official certificate (which we will obviously also send when it arrives)? Where would I send such an email?

Thanks in advance! Smiley

It asked for the original in the application and the one you got the day of is novelty it is not legal at all. You cannot use it to change your name, yes I waited 3 hours in line for Service Ontario only to be turned away, so I doubt CIC will consider it more than trash. But it's a nice momento for you! I'd suggest ordering an couple marriage certificates if you can afford it as you will need the original to change any names and CIC needs an original. If you are 100% sure you are being processes in Ottawa this is the address 219 Laurier Avenue West 7th floor section B Ottawa K1A 1L1 they gave me when I had to forward my husband's background check. They told me to attach a letter with my unique identification number and a short explanation. I would still suggest you try to get through to them on he phone and make sure because although this is what they told me to do it could possible be different than what you need to do but this is a starting point. 1 (888) 242-2100 is CIC's number, I went through menu's until I found it try and transfer me to a person then used the same route each time as when they are busy you don't even get put on hold it just hangs up on you and tells you to call again so expect this to be a massive pain in the behind but it's better you know for sure.

Thanks for the response--

I am well aware that the statement of marriage is not a legal document (hence why I said I will "obviously" send when it arrives). My application was sent in May, through the common law track. We sent our application in May, and as stated are IN PROCESS. Obviously I know we are being processed in Ottawa.

It was mentioned in our original application letters that we are also engaged. The marriage was three days ago-- we have yet to receive any marriage certificate (again, probably not coming for three weeks). However, since it probably behooves us to inform them immediately, I have sent a copy of our unofficial document and some photos of the wedding via email. No names need to be changed, so it seems a copy will suffice.

In any case, I emailed them already and will wait for their response for further instruction.
