Order notes instead of speculating if I'm not mistaken recently when in process is seen on Ecas the third line item stating they started to process your application appears when decision made is seen in Ecas., if they are processing your file, the paper file should not be listed as FCP inventory in the notes. Why it takes 30 days to receive the notes is another story.

Funny thing....I finally (!) got my SA letter. The SA letter is dated August 6th, the same day my Ecas changed my Husband's side (PR) to IP....Wonder if that means anything?!

I'm not sure what it means. My status went IP on August 6th, but we received the SA letter by email on August 12th, and it was dated August 12th.

Update...Our case is in LA but medical is being requested from Ottawa...CIC Dr finally got a response from CIC regarding the third request for Med that has no requests in the emedical file...CIC told the CIC Dr that they are not sure what is going on and are going to investigate...so what it means is nothing, another reason to delay the case...

Got IP yesterday!

It's Tuesday. Let's see some updates.
Just did my more-or-less daily eCAS check...still sitting at Application Rec'd. :(

Still stuck at IP over here. Was hoping to see others with DMs today :(

For those of you who sent in your FBI clearance separately, how long was it until it was attached to your file?

I'm trying to figure out how long I need to wait to order notes to make sure it showed up and was attached properly.

I'd have to double check, but I think we submitted it after it came in around 2 months after we sent our application. Hopefully it doesn't throw off the waiting period too much. I'm a January applicant and still stuck with Application Received when I check our status.

That seems overly long, have you ordered notes or called CIC? Someone on here who had SA delayed that long found out what the issue was by calling CIC.

No we haven't ordered notes. To be honest, is it worth it? Any idea of how long it takes to receive them? We did call CIC over a month ago and they didn't tell us anything, as we expected. :(

Hi everyone!

My husband and I are in the beginning stages of our application. I am Canadian (living here in Canada) and he is American (living in the states). We will be applying outland as soon as we receive his FBI clearance back - which was successfully delivered on July 15th.

I'm still new to all this information and this forum is a little overwhelming, so please forgive me if this questioned has been answered before. I was wondering what experiences people have had crossing the border with an application currently in progress. By my calculations we should receive his FBI check back by mid-October, at the latest, and will send in our application as soon as it's received. He was hoping to visit me in Canada for our anniversary this Fall for about a week but I don't want to take any chances in case he isn't let through by customs. Can anyone let me know what they've brought with them as proof of ties to their home country. He will definitely be going back home and has no intentions to stay while we wait for our application to process.

Thanks in advance!
Joyce

Well the notes gives you an indication whether or not they started processing your app. It will show you if anyone has been assigned to your file and if they have started the criminal/security checks on your file. Takes 30 days to receive them so by the time you receive them they could be outdated but i guess it gives you a sense of where you are at in the processing.

My Husband has been to Canada three times since we sent in the PR application without problems but He also has an approved TRP...In March we were in Montreal and we had to go talk to immigration at the airport...but all we did was "chat" with the immigration officer...In July we were at Peace Arch and the Customs officer asked a few questions and said have a good time..
