Does anyone know the email address for Ottawa? I just had my name changed on my passport and need to email a copy of the new bio page.... I haven't gotten anything by email from Ottawa, so if anyone could share the email address that would be great!!!
Hopefully the email with passport will get the ball moving a bit on my app... maybe wishful thinking, but we'll see!!!
When I changed my name and got a new passport issues I emailed them asking how to get them the info and they responded with they already had it!!???

This was several months ago now, January in fact. And all my records from them and emails from them have had my new name. But I would still email it to them just to be safe. I wonder how they got it though??!!!

hello friends...

i intend to go to visit my hubby this summer for 2 months, and at that time i will not have proof of current work. i basically am working freelance right now, and this will be the first time since getting married that i am crossing the border without proof of work. i of course always carry my apartment lease, marriage certificate and copy of our PR application with me. i will also bring my confirmation for a trip to florida soon after the date i wish to leave, even though i know CBSA doesn't really care so much of my future trip plans.

Does anyone have experience crossing the border without current proof of work? what was your experience like?

My husband never gets asked about current work when crossing the boarder, even if he states he will be staying for a couple months at a time. I guess he gets lucky - he hardly ever has to show any sort of documentation. Just says he's visiting his wife for a while, and has a return ticket.

yeah, i have found traveling by air is easier to prove your ability to leave. i travel by car, so they ask a lot more questions...

Hmm that is true. He's come over by car pretty often but it's usually with me driving and I'm the one questioned more. He usually just sits there and tries not to get noticed, lol. When we cross by land we usually just say he'll be visiting for a couple weeks and they don't say much other than that.

Yeah, with air all they need to see in most cases is a return ticket. My wife visited me before she became a PR and all they asked for was the return ticket and nothing else.

The lease is good and sponsor approval letter is good too. As long as you don't have a ton of luggage it should be fine.

I hope so!!! I have to stop compulsively checking E-Cas!!!
I put in for an address change on E-Cas with an effective date of the end of May... But they updated my address to the new one now! Thankfully, our friends live in the same building so if anything gets mailed there before we move, they can get it...

i hope we get sponsorship approval by then! at this rate who knows! they requested a missing document, and so far (3 weeks later), it still hasn't attached to our application. my husband is calling today to check in again. i will be bringing my copy of our application, the request letter and proof i mailed it! hopefully that will be enough. i also has his T4 from last year, so that will prove he can support me when i'm there if they question my ability to do so without a job. always so nerveracking!!!!

Hello all,
My love and I are just recently married, and getting started on PR/sponsorship applications. She is American, and I'm Canadian.

I feel pretty good about my sponsorship application, except that my work history is on and off, working 7 jobs in the past 5 years, and having extended periods of time where I wasn't working, during which I was on EI or travelling. I also don't know the exact dates of employment for most of these jobs. I have been at my current job for 4 months now.

Just wondering how that is going to look on my sponsorship app, or if there is anyone with similar circumstances who can advise me.

Thanks!

from what I've read on these threads, what they are mostly concerned about is whether the sponsor ever used social assistance such as welfare. This is confirmed by the option c form you submit. It has been written EI is not a huge concern. If you have a letter of employment from your current employer (as it's required), I don't see any issue with multiple jobs in your history. Try to at least give them month/year for your employment history, if you can remember. Perhaps looking at your previous tax returns will help jog your memory?

Hello everyone! We received our CSQ last week and my husband booked his flight to canada today!
He's been saving money and we are planning for him to stay in until he gets his PR. He gets in at the end of May. Now I've read that there's usually no problem getting into canada when you say that you have applied for PR but is there something specific he needs to bring to show the border officers?

Thanx!!!
