Hi Everyone,

I got my PPR today. It says not to fill out the address section in the return envelope. Won't Canada Post care? Also my address is listed in the USA. But, I signed the form so my spouse can act on my behalf. Who will they be sending it to?

EDIT: NVM, I clearly cannot read. I just was confused and it printed on different pages. I see what I need to do now. Also if someone forwards you this email, Annex A will not show up and the bar code on top won't either.

I'm stuck in this dilemma. So I'm expecting my COPR within the next ~2 months...hopefully...if I land, I basically have 30 days before I'm required to update my address I'm guessing and then after that I'm needing to either import or buy a new car in Canada? I still owe money on my car so I'd probably buy a second car and sell this one off.

i'm not sure what this 30 day timeline for updating your address is about? i'm unaware of any such timeline required for landing as a pr or as part of the car import process.

when the car is listed on your goods to follow form, there is no time limit to when you need to import it. i imported my car 3 months after landing as a pr, and had driven the us plated car in canada the entire time without issue.

Technically after 30 days of moving you need to update your address with your insurance company/etc.. I thought? Maybe some companies allow you to wait longer but the car can't be insured if you live in a different country. Either way we're purchasing a new car anyway

oh, well yeah, technically, sure that's probably what you're supposed to do. however if you update to a canadian address, the insurance company will drop you, so some of us choose to use a family address in the US and not to say anything about canada until the car is imported.

It's just been about 3 weeks since you applied, which is typically the average time it takes to get SA. I'd say it's not until 5 weeks or so when it starts to become atypical, so no need to worry

I got my AOR1 the middle of January and didn't get SA until March. You definitely don't have to worry.

We should all be worried for future applicants that they've seemingly slowed the process at Mississauga down so drastically from where it was when I applied in September. All this back and forth BS with the Background Declaration not being upfront and medicals no longer being up front is clearly having consequences. They had sponsor approval time down to 30 daysish at the time I got it, including the time to get AOR1. Some people were getting AOR1 and SA even faster than that.

Reading another thread a bit ago, someone who got sponsor approval was told their file will be held at Mississauga until the background declaration is sent. What's the point of not being able to include that up front if they want that during the first month or so? That's not likely going to drastically change for the PA between when the application is mailed and when they're asking for it. The idea behind being asked for this stuff later was that it was supposed to be things that would change during the process and didn't make as much sense to include up front. If they're asking for them all in a month or so after applying, that defeats the logic behind that entirely, and simply creates artificial slowdowns in the process as they wait for back-and-forth communication with the applicants.

It's only been a week since she received AOR1. She really doesn't need to worry.

I was still waiting at six weeks and people were telling me not to worry. Someone mentioned that it was common not too long ago for people to be waiting for the full two months listed on the immigration site for SA. Most folks, from what I can gather reading the monthly threads, are getting SA without too long a wait.

There are always glitches when something new is put in place. Hopefully, it will become apparent what's working and what isn't sooner rather than later. Personally, I think asking outland applicants to provide joint bills and bank accounts and the such as proof of relationship is ridiculous. I've gone to a couple of different banks and have been told I can't open an account with my husband because he isn't a resident. I own my house and there's no lease and no landlord to write a letter. He can't be added to any of my household bills because, again, he's not a resident and doesn't live here. We are both financially responsible for ourselves in our own countries. I would think something like this would become obvious fairly quickly, but who knows? *shrug*

Lol! I find the whole concept of the new forms puzzling. It was stated that new package was announced in December. I applied before that. I had called and asked about submitting old package and if I should be concerned. They said not to worry, it doesn't change anything for the old package guidelines. Those would be processed as is. There would even be a grace period when old guidelines would be accepted.

So alot of us here sent in pictures and a copy of our passport. But, we all got a PPR asking for things we have already sent. Someone mentioned they are doing this to save money on mailings. I think it's frustrating to go re-do things. But this is immigration and crazy things happen. We can't say anything and I'm sure the only feedback they care about are from their employees and financial analysts.

Hello, giving an update. Received DM on 3/10, and Received the Passport Request email today 3/18.

Please note that on MyCIC it still says that everything, including background and eligibility, is still in progress. If you were like me and checking MyCIC everyday and getting anxious please do yourself a favor and relax... it is not reliable at all. n.
