statuatory declarations i believe are for commonlaw relationships, not marriage applications so they don't pertain to your application. also, letters of support are not required to be notarized since they are supporting documents, not required ones. i didn't send any letters of support for my application and i had no issue. your application is not going to be rejected because of something like that. applications can't just be rejected without the applicant having a chance to answer to concerns (ie: additional documentation and interview). there's no reason to worry.
Thanks for your input, but now I'm even more concerned because I am a common-law spouse application... What should I do?

sorry, i assumed when you used the term husband, you were married. anyway, did you get SA yet? if not, you will have to wait until you do, and then you can send notarized copies to ottawa. they may request these documents before approving the sponsor, if you are still waiting. if they do, you can send them and they'll continue processing.

if the file already is at ottawa, then you can send them to them, noting your uci and file numbers, and requesting them be attached to your file. or you can wait and see if they are requested, and have them ready if or when. again, relax. this is something that can be fixed easily.

Sorry, I see how that was super confusing! We consider/call each other husband and wife already. We just haven't had a legal wedding because we want the wedding in the US due to my family, but haven't wanted to risk border crossing for it until I have PR.

We received SA on April 21st. Ottawa requested IMM5409 and FBI check on April 27th which I sent them on April 28th, last interaction. Thank you for your calming words, I feel much better. I went over and over the Guides, I can't believe I missed this! I will wait and see if they request it, I feel our application is strong enough that it may not be necessary. Thanks again!

Hi all, this thread is amaaaaazing! I've lurked so much but never actually posted!

I have a question regarding the "divorce certificate". My Canadian husband was married before me, and we have the divorce judgement. It has the official court stamps and was used when we applied for our marriage license and our daughters passports. Will it be okay for the Outland application? Or do we need to order a divorce certificate? I didn't even know a divorce certificate existed hahaha

Thanks for any guidance on this.

Hey gang!

So, I just found out that my FBI request has been pushed to the back of the line because my card was declined. They received my new payment information May 4th, so my application for identity check has been moved back to that date (even though I sent my prints in February).

On May 5th I got the email from CIC requesting the identity check, so I have 90 days from that date. The FBI person I spoke with on the phone said that it is taking them 12 - 13 weeks to do the checks, so mine should be done 12 - 13 weeks from May 4th, which may or may not put me in the 90 day window. Eek!

If I don't have it in 90 days, can I ask CIC for an extension? Is that even possible? It's cutting it really close potentially, I'm kind of freaking out right now! I already have sponsor approval, would hate to have my whole application rejected after all this work!

Thanks for any advice.

In the past, I have had success with telling CIC that it would take me longer to acquire what they were asking for. I made sure to respond as soon as possible, to explain the situation, and to indicate that I would send the requested documents as soon as possible, and that I understood that the delay on my end would delay processing of my application. I was given 90 days, then some time after that expired, I was given 60 days, then I was given 120 days, and at last I was able to produce the documentation they wanted. I think they can be flexible, as long as you're honest and not leaving them hanging indefinitely.

Thanks for the reply! I'll get in touch with CIC today and explain the situation to them, hopefully they will be as understanding as they were in your case.

Cheers!

Hi Everyone!

I logged into Ecas today (as I obsessively do every day), and the PA side changed from "Application Received" to "In Process", but still no third line. What does this mean? Is this AOR2 even though there is no 3rd line? Still haven't received SA either?!?!

Thanks for any help Smiley

Yes, that's AOR2 at this point. A lot of us only got the status change, but no change in the detailed summary/history, or only much later.

I'm curious, is it possible to book a landing appointment rather than having to exit Canada to land if you applied outland, but are in Canada?

You need to call the CIC call center to the make the appointment at a local CIC office. I called just yesterday and the appointments for the office in the province of New Brunswick will call me in 3-6 weeks for the appointment. I think I will instead go to the border, as I don't want to wait that long. I'm not sure what to expect at the border but if anyone has some input as to what their experience was like, please share or link a thread. Thanks!

Hmm, I'll have to see when my application is done how long it'll take for an appointment near me. Thanks for the info.

So we landed on 29APR2016 after the 3000 mile drive with one dog, two cats and a 26ft uhaul through 86F degrees, rain, tornado warnings 60 mile an hour wind, snow and sleet....the hardest part was finding a parking spot together so that we could export the cars on the US side...it was also the longest line..We had 46 pages of stuff we declared and the officer was choked because she had to stamp each page!!!..Because I was a returning Canadian they tried to tell me that I could only have $10K exempt on my stuff...I said that I would sign the titles over to my husband and that would cover the cars and in fact when I entered the US I only had 10 boxes and now I am returning with 100 plus so all of the stuff was his...none the less they agreed and Hubby declared everything and no duty had to be paid as he was settling ....I did cry once she started stamping the paper work and she said those are happy tears right and I said yes they were...You have no idea how Canadian you are until you are away from Canada....It was smooth and easy because we had every single piece of paper we needed in files labeled so that when they asked for any info we had it ready including the pet vet records...every single serial number for every single electronic and the dollar value in each and every box...We have been here a week now and have started to get adjusted to the time difference...things are going good...If anyone has questions I will be more then willing to answer...
