Received COPR yesterday! WOOHOO! Can someone pls update me on the spreadsheet?
Finally done :) I am so relieved. Now my only question left is- do we have to fill out a separate B4 form for the children, or just one for the PA?
Congrats! :D

Question about importing car:

We initially leased our car in 2010 but then finally bought it off this february. Got the title to the car around feb of this year Now planning to import the car to canada next month. Somebody mentioned that i had to have the title for 6 month before i can import it. I am a new permanent resident and did include my car on the B4 form when i landed few weeks ago. Is it true, i have to OWN the car for 6 months before bringing to Canada?
Thanks.
Not for immigrants. The regulations for cars are actually detailed out in CBSA Memorandum D2-2-1. As long as you owned, used, and posessed it prior to landing you should be ok:

Code:
15. In some cases, settlers wish to acquire goods in other than their homeland (e.g., while they are en route to Canada), and problems arise at the time of importation when not all of the ownership, possession, and use requirements have been met. As vehicles are frequently involved, the following criteria have been developed to assist settlers in such cases:

    (a) the vehicle must have been owned and possessed by the settler, in accordance with the conditions described above, prior to his or her arrival in Canada;
    (b) in addition to having owned and taken possession of the vehicle abroad, the settler must have been legally entitled to operate it in the free environment abroad (e.g., have a valid driver's licence) and have actually driven it on the open roads abroad for some distance, prior to the date on which the settler arrives in Canada. (note that a test drive using dealer licence plates or a drive only on the manufacturer's or dealer's premises does not qualify);
    (c) the vehicle must have been licensed and insured (temporarily or otherwise), in the name of the settler, for use in the free environment abroad during the period it was used;
    (d) documentary evidence is produced at the time of accounting to substantiate that the above requirements have been met;
    (e) all of the remaining requirements of tariff item No. 9807.00.00 are complied with; and
    (f) The vehicle is eligible for importation into Canada in accordance with Transport Canada's laws and requirements.
I'd print out a copy of D2-2-1 and take it with you as backup just in case.

Hello everyone.

I am almost done with completing the application to sponsor my American husband. However, I have 1 question. For the "choice of interview location", I get a few options:

No Preference
Seattle, Washington
Detroit, Michigan
Los Angeles, California
New York, New York

What should we choose? I was going to choose "No Preference" but I need a confirmation that that's the right choice.

Thank you very much.

Whatever you do, don't pick Detroit. That office is closed.

I thought CIC had updated their forms (I don't remember being given a choice on my application) but it appears the old one is still in circulation.

I would advise LA or NYC as those two process some PR applications already. Pick whichever is more appealing to you (for whatever reason).

Thank you for your reply.

If I choose "No Preference" will that make any difference? We don't really care where the interview might be (I hope for no interview at all since I'm providing about 200 pages of relationship proof lol). http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3910e.pdf

Nah, they will just randomly pick a place if you need one. Having an American have an interview is rare though :)

Perfect then!! :) Thank you so much.

Can't wait to get the Option C Printout so we can finally send this application. Been a very hard and tedious process. So worth it though :)

Check the date on your form and make sure it's the most up-to-date form available at CIC's website. Some people have had their applications returned for using older forms. The forms usually don't change by much, but returned applications can cause police clearances or medicals (expensive!) to time out before you get a chance to resubmit, so it's worth double-checking now and again right before you submit.

I double checked the form before replying to her. It does list all 4 VOs on the current Appendix A that you get from CIC's "Get the application package" link on their website..........

Not that this means CIC didn't make an error. Detroit should be removed though......... come on CIC, it's been closed for a while!

I looked on all my forms now... The application to sponsor is 04-2013, Sponsorship Evaluation is 04-2012, and Sponsor Questionnaire is 04-2008. I will check my husband's forms too... I am assuming these are correct since I just got them....

The link you've provided is to a document published on 5-2013, so you need to download again!
