HOLY CRAP! We got an email back already!!
We already sent by mail the passports and confirmation of mailing address, but that's okay we will email it back this time!! lol
Now I feel pretty darn foolish for my spazz attack I had on Monday ;)

Great news - I wish they'd respond to our queries like that! Hopefully you'll get your COPRs in the mail soon!

Thanks! Honestly, I think we've actually been very lucky in this entire process so far. About 3/4 of the people that I work with are permanent residents or have work/study visas and I hear sooooo many horror stories. For example, my supervisor's COPR got lost under a stack of papers at CIC. They finally found them 50 weeks later... ie they were expiring in two weeks. They refused to issue new ones, so she had to quit her job, sell her house, get the kids out of school, find somewhere to live, etc etc in two weeks!! YIKES This was many many years ago, so hopefully they have gotten better since then!

Odd, since their own rules (OP 1) state that the PR must receive it with validity of at least two months or they are supposed to issue a new COPR (though it might have required new medicals at the time, since they didn't have a model for extension).

I'm glad you didn't need to get a new FBI certificate. To be honest, I'd based my own advice on the observation that CIC seldom admits when they make a mistake. You appear to have been lucky in obtaining a professional and competent visa officer - in my experience professional and competent people admit to their mistakes and rectify them when discovered. The unprofessional and less-competent stonewall or ignore you.

You are right... atleast there are few visa officers who admit their mistakes in front of others. otherwise they are like judge.. whatever they do is just right.. no one dares to speak as they have so much power

This is going to blow everyone's mind.

My husband is currently having a back and forth email exchange with our immigration officer! He's responding by the hour. AMAZING! We are obviously very very lucky.

We started processing xxx application on April 30, 2013.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made on xxx application. The office will contact xxx concerning this decision.

:P

WOW. Does that seem fast or what?? They started processing my application even before all they had all my papers-my new FBI report came on Friday (5/3), mailed it and it was delivered to CIC on Monday (5/6-which happened to be their deadline, but they had allowed me an extension). Wonder if my last letter and proof that they had my prior FBI report prior to the expiry date worked! ::)

I will remain optimistically praiseful!

QUESTION: What's the process now? Get a letter in snail mail? What's the general consensus on when that will arrive?

Generally, in my experience, DM means they have printed your COPR a few days prior. If they mailed it a day later, you can start counting the days until it arrives. Some people seem to get it fairly quickly, but a few report having it take quite a bit of time.

THAT is awesome news! :P Nothing yet so far. But I've never been so excited to get mail! ;D

I think I got the COPR mixed up with how long it takes to actually get the PR card. 4-8 weeks if I remember correctly what others have said.

Does anyone have any idea "roughly" how long one can expect to wait before receiving PPR after the medicals have been received/processed? Or would anyone happen to know if one can expect to wait weeks, months? Thank you for any help you are able to offer!

It seems to take 2-4 months.

Sent in my wifes application for PR and it was received Feb 15, 2013 ( LA OFFICE)

She is American and I am Canadian.

The CIC website says application and medical record received, any idea of what happens from here? historically I know I can check the CIC website and it will tell me 16-18 months.

Thanks,
